4.0 out of 5 stars Won't you come on in?
In 1977, RCA Records was having difficulty getting Elvis Presley to record new material. So, they threw together this short (28 minutes) compilation album of country songs. The songs were all recorded between 1969 and 1973, with the exception of "Your Cheatin' Heart", which dates all the way back to 1958. All of these songs had been on previous albums. However, the...

3.0 out of 5 stars A great compilation in its day
"Welcome To My World" stands out in my mind for two reasons. First, it had much more the look and feel of an original release than a compilation. Second, it was my fourth Presley LP. I played it a million times between the time of purchase and Elvis' death 10 days later. I've played the CD less than 10 times.

Since 1977, RCA/BMG has released a barrage of...

However, the thing that made the album of interest to Elvis collectors was the fact that two of the songs are different versions than had previously been released. "Make the World Go Away" is alternate take 2 and "I Can't Stop Loving You" is from the matinee Madison Square Garden Show (which is now available as An Afternoon in the Garden). This is an okay CD, but if you want a compilation album of country songs by Elvis, there are much better ones.

Since 1977, RCA/BMG has released a barrage of compilations -- including a few gems. I refer you to "Walk a Mile in My Shoes", box set of 70s material, "Essential Elvis" Volumes Four and Five, and the new "Burning Love" CD (not to be confused with "Elvis Sings Burning Love and Hits from His Movies").

5.0 out of 5 stars Elvis the "KING", October 25, 2006

If you love Elvis &/or you love Country Music you will love this album. I have the original LP of this CD, unfortunately they did not include all the songs from the LP. This album proves that Elvis is "KING" and can sing any kind of music.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous, June 26, 2011
This review is from: Welcome to My World (Audio CD)
When I was buying Elvis Presley vinyl in 1977 and onwards, this album was one I never considered buying. The songs, with the exception of two were previously released and the haphazard compiling of tracks was typical of RCA's Camden, later Pickwick, series. Who in their right minds puts one track recorded in 1958 a few live tracks from the early 70's including one from the massive seller Aloha from Hawaii, and some others from studio recordings done in 1970? Seriously. I bought a used a copy for $3.00 at the local record store just to have a copy of a record I didn't have. Even in it's time it was a ridiculous compilation and now it's even more ridiculous. It just shows the lack of concern Elvis himself had over how his music was being distributed. Thank goodness for Ernst Jorgensen and Roger Semon for their incredible compilations and remastering work of this often brilliant and troubled artist.
