5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the reviews above!, June 6, 2003
This review is from: Welcome to the Planet Pop (Audio CD)
Scooch were the ultimate pop band of the late 90s. They rocked. Every track they laid their vocals one was pure supreme pop. They were on the same label as Kylie Minogue(Parlophone) so it must be something in the water down there!
Anyway this Japanese edition includes not two but THREE bonus tracks. Yes Amazon have correctly identified the two remixes but BIRD IN FLIGHT was not included on the original European album. Welcome To Planet Pop went to no.1 in Japan for 4 months and included 5 Asian no.1 singles. They were confused with Steps but Scooch were the real contenders of the ABB-On-Speed mantle. Steps were as dull as dishwater and didnt write ANY of their material. Scooch on the other hand have written every track on this CD bar a few. They camp but great for retro disco parties. Those who like Kylie will love this CD. My highlight? Don't Look Back which isnt on the album but its their best recording and you can find it on Cd1 of their top 4 UK hit single More Than I Needed To Know!
As for this CD after listening to the great singles, go straight to One Of These Days.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Weak "Steps"., December 29, 2000

This review is from: Welcome to the Planet Pop (Audio CD)
SCOOCH is basically a carbon copy of the group STEPS. Their songs have the same formula and the lyrics are similar. If you dont have any of STEPS albums, then skip buying this CD and go straight to steps. But i fyou have Steps albums, and want more of that sound, then go for this album. The vocals are not as strong as Steps, but they are pretty good. I decided to get this version (welcome to planet pop) over the UK version (for sure), cause it had 4 more tracks, and was only a few dollars more. Since AMAZON doesnt have the tracklisting listed, i will put it here: 1. For Sure 2. More Than I Needed To Know 3. One of These Days 4. The Best Is Yet To Come 5. Zoom 6. Bird In Flight 7. Stay 8. The Next Step 9. Never Stop Believing 10. Syncopated Rhythm 11. When My Baby (Radio Edit) 12. Music To My Heart 13. Don't Look Back 14. Forever We'll Be Strong 15. The Best Is Yet To Come (Splash! Mix) 16. When My Baby (Almighty Radio Edit)

For those of you who are huge steps fans, this album reminds me the most of the EUROPEAN/CANADIAN version of step one (not the american version). Its good, but not steps.
