4.0 out of 5 stars Ozzy, Lemmy, Galaga, November 1, 2001
By A Customer
I don't know if I'd go so far as to say this was a "classic" but it's definitely a must see for any rock fan, or any documentary fan. It's like a post script to the movie "Decline of Western Civilization Part 2", it's even filled with a lot of the same characters: Lemmy, Ozzy, etc. While Ozzy is great to watch as usual, what made it really worthwhile was the boat load of not famous Sunset Strip characters peppered throughout. I mean, "Lucifer Satan" and the tatoo parlor "rebel" are straight out of Spinal Tap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sex, drugs, rock 'n roll (and lots of laughs!), October 12, 2001
By A Customer
Any fan of such head-banging cult classics like "This Is Spinal Tap" and "Heavy Metal Parking Lot" absolutely must have this video in their collection. This low-budget doc really captures the sleazy, drug-addled, yet oddly charming vibe of the Sunset Strip's most legendary clubs. As a portrait of rock and roll mayhem, "Welcome to the Rainbow" has it all: great interviews with both the famous and the obscure, a little T & A, and some ear-shattering music courtesy of Motorhead. Watch in amazement as Doors guitarist Robby Krieger stumbles his way through an ham-handed acoustic version of "Love Me Two Times". Shake your head in wonder as literary boot-lick Danny Sugarman continues his career of artistic necrophilia by trotting out yet another "wild" story about his deceased hero Jim Morrison. Take down notes as Ron Jeremy offers tips on picking up girls at the Rainbow Bar & Frill. Laugh your guts out as the great Ozzy rambles on and on incoherently. (This has to be one of the most hilariously unhinged interviews Mr. Osbourne has ever given; he doesn't even seem to be sure where he is or why he's speaking into a camera!) Filled with lots of great moments, this modest little flick really grows on you. Like one of the other great docs of recent years, "American Movie", this is the kind of film you want to watch again and again.
