5.0 out of 5 stars Rock and Roll Worship Circus Sounds Great
Rock and Roll Worship Circus Circus's latest album was given to me by my brother-in-law J. Clinton Aull, the band's touring manager. I had listened to bands like Jars of Clay and DC Talk in the past, but I was never really a big Christian Rock fan. I do, however, like quality music and this band does a great job at producing just that. I will probably buy the next...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hohum...mediocre at best.
OK, this album could have been a lot better. For starters, if RNRWC wanted to include a bunch of songs from their previous album (The 4-4.5 star "Big Star Logistics") they should've at least included "See The Lord is Coming," arguably the second best song after "The Undiscovered." Their newer songs are OK but nowhere near the caliber of...

Hey, don't just take my word for it look what the critics have to say:

"this is easily the best record of the year. Heck, it might even be the record of the decade for Christian music!"

"You just need to have this album. Figure out a way to get it done. Don't eat lunch a couple of days, go without that movie this weekend, make do with convenience store coffee this week. Whatever. . . You MUST have this CD. I don't care if you're 65 years old or what your denomination is. I don't care if you like hymns or choruses. This is the one album to get (and give)!"

5.0 out of 5 stars The best circus in town!, August 23, 2002
This review is from: Welcome to the Rock N Roll Worship Circus (Audio CD)
These guys rock! I bought their indy release last year, and was blown away by what I heard. I have to say that when I first got the cd and saw the way they were dressed, I was expecting some 80's "Crowded House" or "Flock of Seagulls" retro kind of sound, but that didn't happen. Instead, these guys have a heart for God that pours out of their music in every song. This release has several songs from that indy release and a few newer songs that will really catch your attention. "Loving You" is one of my favorite rockers on the cd, with a chorus that you'll be singing at the top of your lungs with the windows rolled down while driving way too fast on the highway. "The Undiscovered" has to be my favorite song on the whole cd though, with guitar work that would blow any guitar "hero" out of the water. Oh, and by the way, these guys don't have a bass player - but you would never have known it if not for the liner notes. All in all, this is a cd every "Delirious" fan should add to their collection, as these guys are redefining worship music like Delirious did a few years ago. I enjoy every moment of my trips to "The Circus", and I think you will too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just rock stars, but family, too., March 9, 2003

For about four (?) years now, I have listened to the Circus (as we in Longview call them) become less of themselves, and more of Him. I have worshipped with them, prayed with them, given them my support at concerts and in prayer. And let me tell you, all the worship on this CD is nothing compared to the RRWC live on the stage. Gabe has an amazing gift of lyrical surrender and fresh perspective. Chon (Zurn) has unmistakable authority and imagination like no other when it comes to his drums. Chris (Solo, now married, and father to his newborn daughter, Nell) has played guitar as long as I can remember knowing him, and has always had his heart of worship nestled in his six strings of melody. Melanie (Blurr) has a wonderfully sweet voice and is equally creative playing her keys. Together, these four incredible souls bare all in surrender to their creator, asking for His forgiveness, proclaiming His love and power, and moving his heart with their song. Although nothing can possibly compare to worshipping with them, if you don't get to see them live, go ahead and get this CD. It will change your heart about Rock-n-Roll, and worship, and the Circus. I have read amazing things about this album from people on the other side of the country, saying that God definitely showed up when they played it. The opening track, "Loving You" is one of my favorite songs that Gabe has ever written, a song about our reason for being created, and we were made for (I love songs about destiny). My other favorites from this album include, (but not exclusively) "We Sing Glory," "Glorify the Son" (I consider this one another destiny song, one that describes what we should do in all aspects of our lives), and "Open the Gates" (I have experienced God's presence in awesome ways with this song alone). If you are looking for a fun-loving, Jesus-hugging, Trinity-praising CD, this is the one to get. If you want to get to know the band a little better, I recommend that you get the 2-disc version, (if you can find it) since that version has a "Meet the Band" video disc. Did I mention I love these guys?

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, something different!, June 9, 2004

If most contemporary Christian pop puts you to sleep, here is your wake-up call.

The band's name says it all: while there is definitely no shortage of "rock 'n' roll" on this CD, songs that might otherwise be hollow are enriched with deeply devoted lyrics, with musical variety worthy of a three-ring show. There are hard-and-fast songs to keep you awake on a road trip, and meditative songs suitable for prayerful reflection. All with a positive, hopeful, God-centered message.

If I could think of someone to compare this group to, I would. Their unique flavor of Christian rock is simple, old-fashioned, and brand-new all at once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Christian Rock Band, February 27, 2003

I really like this album. It is very different than other Christian rock bands that I have heard recently. After the first listen, or two I did not think much of it, but the more I have listened to it, the more I enjoy it. The band has put together some catchy songs that stay with you long after you are finished listening to the CD.

I particularly like the vast range of styles that the band uses. Each song is different, yet the album as a whole comes together nicely. More specifically, I think the upbeat songs are better than the slow ones. Tracks like "Loving You", "Your Crown", "Come on Get Down", and "The Undiscovered" really display the bands strengths. Some of the slower songs like "Come to the Father" and "Glorify the Son" are not quite as good.

Overall, I highly recommend this album. Even if you have been into modern Christian music over the past several years, I think you will enjoy the unique sound this band offers. In fact, as much as I hate to say this, I have been listening to this album more than the most recent Delirious release, Touch.

This CD is awesome! If you like rock and worship, buy this CD. I've bought a few worship CD's and I love them, but this is different from any other worship album I've ever heard before. They have a new CD coming Aug. 26th, so pick up this one now and get ready, you'll be hearing more about this band soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just good rock 'n' roll!, January 14, 2003

I can't really give an opinion of how this band measures up against other worship bands since the last "worship band" I was into was early Stryper. But I can tell you this CD is the most interesting CD I have heard in a long time. It is unusual for a band to come along with a unique sound these days, but the Worship Circus pulls it off. At times they are very contemporary, but there are flashes here and there of days gone by. "The Undiscovered" is amazing and "Glorify the Son" is just too incredible for words. A band with a very bright future!

This is one of the most amazing and unique worship C.D.'s that you will ever hear. Raucous party-praise tunes and powerfully-intimate worship tunes. Great variety--every song has a different feel to it. Believe it or not, given the relatively young age of the band, you can hear a hint of the Sixties in some of the guitar settings. Which is not a bad thing. Your mom will like it. You will too. But the passion and lyrics are definitely modern. When was the last time you heard a praise song with lyrics like: "Let's throw a party-- a freakin' rager"??? Vertical Music is to be congratulated for signing these guys (and girl) and letting them fly! And you gotta see this band in concert! When you get this C.D., you will want to play it over and over and over again. And you will find yourself more in love with God than you were when you first started listening. A great C.D.! (Be sure to get the version with the extra DVD included).

This record is just that--you won't find any of these songs on the "Songs 4 Life" TV special. rock 'n' roll praise and worship! I've seen these guys play live and they are indeed the real deal. This is great worship music minus all the sappy sugary music you'll hear in most churches.
About the lack of a bass player - the keyboard girl plays the bass lines on a vintage Moog synth.

This review is from: Welcome to the Rock N Roll Worship Circus (Audio CD)
Rock & Roll Worship Circus came to our church and performed in front of over 900 middle and high school students. It was an awesome event and my son and I had a great time. We bought the album, of course. It truly is an amazing gift this group has to offer. For anyone who likes Rock & Roll, Christian or not, this album is for you. Believe us, you will not regret it.
