This is a great album -- one of our 2-year-old's faves, & we like it too. I'm mystified by the comment of the reviewer who didn't like it because it was too Christian. We're a fairly religious Jewish family, but even though most of these songs come from a different tradition, we relate to & enjoy them. A good way to put it: this album has soul! If you do, too, I bet you'll like it.

I had ran across some Dan Zanes children's records before and was glad to hear some kid's music made with heart and spirit and not dumbed down blandness. So it's great to hear this collection where Dan revs up some old Gospel. Gospel is a genre guilty of dumbed down blandness to be sure so Dan has done this trick twice. His band has a really organic vibey sound with a lovely use of folk instrumentation and harmonies. It made me go out and buy a Rosetta Tharp record! Makes your foot kick and your heart feel glad. It's the beauty of the message-everyone is welcome. There is a dearth of exciting and challenging Christian Art being made so this a welcome release. This is not to say Zanes is a Christian (I don't know) but he definitely puts across the music in a positive way. Shoot Tom Waits does some dynamite gospel on record. Anyways, it's a good time.

This was the first Dan Zanes album that I stumbled across, and it has opened up a wonderful world of music to lift the spirit and bring people together across the age barrier. Family music beats kids music every time. Good on Dan Zanes and his friends for giving us help in building community in our dislocated age. This particular album is excellent within our church context as well, with gospel numbers like 'By and By' and 'Up Above My Head' a big hit.

Another fantastic album from this very talented and fun musician! Everyone in my home really likes this album!

I LOVE this CD of Dan Zanes! I previously purchased a set of his CD's containing "House Party, Night Time and Rocket Ship Beach". I had only seen Dan on the kids channel, little video clips in between shows, so I originally thought I was buying them for the kids. To our delight the whole family loved them! So when I saw this inspirational Music available I jumped at it. I have hot been disappointed! The kids and husband love it too. He has some good old songs on there that are great to hear again. I don't listen to the popular Christian music from the radio much because I find it bland, and for the most part a little boring. This is the kind of music I like! You'll find that there are a lot of other artists included in the songs on this CD. This does not distract from Dan's style at all because he is all about sharing the gift of music. I am a fan, Dan! Thank you for sharing your music!

This album goes right to the heart. It is love transmitted through music...with a dash of fun and a spoonful of inspiration. It's a testament to the faith that lives within each of us - no matter what name we may give it. If I'm "feeling down and out" (as Dan sings) I just have to put this album into the CD player to get back on track. Thanks and hugs to Dan and all who created this beautiful album.

I have almost all Dan's Cd's and this has been our favorite around here. My four year old daughter loves it, we have listened to it in the car over and over. We are Christians, but we don't like lame music around here.

This is a great CD and selection of songs. The music, musicians, and arrangements are lovely. It's obvious from the title of the CD, description, and selection of songs, that this is for the most part, a Gospel CD. The fact that it is Gospel music is no reason for a low rating. I'm not a fan of rock music so there would be no need for me to by a Rock CD and then give it a low rating. I'm grateful for Dan Zanes. He makes music that the whole family can enjoy!

If you happen to be a Protestant who likes the old-timey gospel sound, I hope you will enjoy this release. It's not for us. I didn't put songs like "Get On Board" and "Welcome Table" on our iPods for a reason, and now there is a whole CD full of them! For a non-Christian family, praise music kinda spoils the dance party, Dan.

To be fair, musically, this release is okay . . . what you would expect from DZAF, banjos, Spanish, etc. I understand that this release will benefit the New Sanctuary Movement and Families for Freedom. Nice. I added a star for that.

I wonder if the next concert will be a dance party or a tent revival. I'm too scared to go and find out. Pity. Dan Zanes was one of the few artists keeping Hannah Montana & other vapid acts at bay. We'll continue enjoying his old music and hope he starts making music that EVERY family can enjoy again in the future.
