I stumbled across this band by visiting the KISS website and seeing a link for the track "Call Paul Stanley". Upon first listen I was hooked. The searing guitar and interwoven harmonica blended perfectly. Not to mention the hook-laden chorus and gritty blue collar lyrics. Needless to say, I had to hear more and purchased the CD. In my opinion it's all killer and no filler. From the bombastic chorus of the opening "Showdown in Central Park" to the delicate melodies of "Fire in the Pouring Rain" this debut effort throws down the gauntlet. If you're a fan of retro rock, do yourself a favor and give this a listen you'll catch the fever. Trust me.. I'm NOT a doctor!

Not often to I come across a new band that embraces a style of rock that has long since been retired to the Rock N' Roll graveyard. But Bad City proves rock can't and will not die! No matter the style. Bad City is a beautiful blend of classic rock from the 70's, with the styles of bands like Kiss, Queen, and a touch of Van Halen. Then a blend of the sleaze rock sound of the mid to late 80's. Then creeping closer to the present with a blend of Alt rock from the 90's and the 00's. I really hope these guys don't get overlooked, but I can easily see that happening :/ It's hard enough to believe any new band would sound like this. Let alone have a lead singer that used to sing in a Pop-Punk band. It definitely will have you scratching your head. Never the less, Josh Caddy (lead singer) has one helluva voice and lets it be known in this album. A little blend of Sebastian Bach and Vince Neil is an easy way to describe it ;) I'm sure if you really broke down this album it wouldn't be hard from a critic's stand point to pick it apart. But I don't have it in my heart to do that to these guys. They have flat out delivered one awesome inaugural rock record, and I can't wait for the follow up in a couple years :)

This is a must have album for any 70's-80's rock enthusiast. Whether your new to the genre or not.

My personal favorites off this great album are.

1. Do You Believe in Rock N' Roll (Shades of Queen ;), and my favorite track)
2. Fire in the Pouring Rain (Get read to Flick you Bic to this Power Ballad )
3. Heatwave (This song gives Martha & the Vandellas a run for their money ;)
4. Call Paul Stanley (A great tribute song to the Starchild)
5. Showdown in Central Park (Great opening intro track, but not the best)

Amazing February 22, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Bad City is a Chicago based band, and "Welcome to the Wasteland" is one of the best rock albums I've heard in a long time. It might even be one of the best ever. From start to finish, every song is multi-layered, with incredible guitar playing and vocals. From rockers such as "Wildlife" to ballads like "Fire in the Pouring Rain," to upbeat songs like "Call Paul Stanley," the songs are amazing. Melodic, beautiful, high energy, scorching guitars; I can't say enough about this. And the vocal harmonies are top notch. You'll be singing along from your first listen as if you've heard these all before. It's so disappointing that most people will never hear of this band. If you're reading this review, give the sample songs a try. You won't be disappointed!!!
