Rock Like You All Got Your Reasons!,
By Kevin L. Nenstiel "omnivore" (Kearney, Nebraska) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Welcome to the Woods (Audio CD)
The advance single of this album, "Down In the Valley," is a fair representation of the full tracks, but it doesn't do the playlist justice. This is real throat-rending rock music with a rootsy texture. From the acoustic chords that introduce us to the first track, "Longfall," to the final buzzing electric guitar of "Fire on the Pontchartrain," this is an album that reminds you why you listen to music in the first place. This is the Lost Trailers' third album, but their first for a major label. They have a very mature musical feel--they've paid their dues--while maintaining the youthful spirit of rock music. This is an album to be played over and over. With nearly an hour of music, it's definitely a CD for our age, but there's never a feeling that they're playing a song just to bulk out the tracks. If the Lost Trailers were a little more laid-back, you could almost imagine them playing the Opry, but there's no mistaking this for anything but rock-and-roll in the ultimate spirit of Elvis, Creedence, and the American greats. The roots are definitely in the south, but they branch out all over America organically. If your idea of great current music is Wilco, Johnny Cash, and Shelby Lynne, this is your new album.

The Lost Trailers ROCK,
By Lizzie (Texas) - See all my reviews

Five guys from Atlanta, GA (Respectively) really know how to rock! Stokes Nielson, Manny Medina, Jeff Potter, Andrew Nielson and Ryder Lee = The Lost Trailers and "Welcome To The Woods", their first major release, rocks beyond words. Every song on the album is a MUST LISTEN; there is something for everyone, especially if you like good ole Southern Rock. The first time I listened to the album I was hooked. It is hard to decide what captures your attention first because the music rocks, the lyrics will blow your mind, and well, whether it be the raspy voice of Stokes Nielson or the bluesy voice of Ryder Lee you become hypnotized. And to be honest the more you listen to this album the more you will love the band. This album includes everything; songs about decision making and growing up, ("West End", "Longfall"), songs about hanging with your buds and getting in trouble, ("The Battery"), songs about love and being on the road ("Atlanta", "Walking Blind"), and a song about getting revenge when the one you love cheats on you ("Fire on the Pontchartrain"). And these are just 5 of the 14 songs on the album! It is hard for me to say which song is my favorite; I truly love the entire album. If I HAD to choose a favorite, I would break it down between the two singers and choose one from each. Stokes: "Fire on the Pontchartrain", no one else could possibly sing it like he does and give it justice! Just listen to the song, you will understand what I mean. Ryder: "Sitting on Top of the World", the song and music rock, everyone contributes to this song, but Ryder's voice is what tops it all off! If you like their music, you will LOVE their live show. I promise you they are even better in person. Plus they are five of the nicest guys I have met working with bands. So if you get the chance check them out, but until they reach your neck of the woods, get yourself their CD so you will be ready to sing along! Audience participation is a MUST!

The next best thing in rock,

My buddy introduced me to the Lost Trailers in 2002. We hopped in his car and made the trip down to Trenton, NJ to see The Lost Trailers perform a private show for one of their fans. Needless to say, I was blown away. I quickly picked up their CDs and started listening to them. Then I got the news from my buddy last year: the Trailers got a record deal! I was extremely pleased at the news, because that meant that more people have the chance to be exposed to this great music. The songs on this album are written with heart and soul. Not to mention, they're really kickin' when you hear them live. Notables are "Averly Jane," their big hit, "Walking Blind," "Standing on top of the World," and "Yellow Rose," which is my favorite Trailer song. All the hard work that the Trailers have put through the years has paid off. If you're reading this, congrats guys, you absolutely deserve it!

First off, if you have not heard The Lost Trailers on disc or in person, do what it takes to get your hands on "Welcome to the Woods" or go out and see a show. This album is filled with 14 of the best tracks the Trailers have ever recorded. They mix a southern rock, blues and good old fashioned guitar to produce a sound that is hard to find. It is only a matter of time before these guys make it big so pick this album up today!

These guys should be stars.,

If there is any justice in the music industry, these guys will be major stars within a couple of years. Unfortunately, good music is no longer popular. Okay, sorry for the rant. The Trailers are kinda hard to classify, but I'd probably call it heartland rock- think Petty or Mellencamp. Whatever it is, its darn good music. I tried, but can't really even pick my favorite songs on the album- there's just too many. My only gripe is that they change lead singers for a couple of songs, and I don't care for his voice nearly as much. Bottom line: pick this one up now.

All you hear is Truth,

The Lost Trailers are one of the most unique and balanced bands I know. All of the guys in the band are very down to earth and kind, and their music reflects that. They are unbelievable live; you don't have to be a fan to be impressed. I first saw them when the opened for O.A.R. in Rochester, NY, and immediately thought that they were far more talented than O.A.R. These guys respect their fans so much and I can't wait until they are legends!

Welcome to the Woods,

The Lost Trailer's "Welcome to the Woods" has got to be the best album on the shelves right now. Whatever distinguishes a truly great album from one that turns out to be a $16 mistake is definitely present in "Welcome to the Woods." If I had to say, I'd say that distinction stems from thoughtful, intelligent songwriting, solid musical integrity, and an overarching truthfulness and respect for the listener. But hell, it could just be that this album is a blast to listen to. After a few times around you'll be hard pressed to pick one favorite song, which is a great reason to listen the whole way through. Definitely check these guys out anyway you can.Cheers.

best cd i have ever bought,
By A Customer
This review is from: Welcome to the Woods (Audio CD)
i have been a fan of the trailers for three years since i saw them perform in a tiny bar in south texas. There live performances are uncomparable to anyone else i have ever seen, and this cd brings together all the passion of those performances. Stokes song writing is incredible, the best singer songwriter i have heard. Every song evokes strong emotions in those who listen to it. There sound is unique and cannot really be classified, and that is what makes it great. If you only buy one cd this year there is no better one than this.
