Book Description

Welcome to Moon Hill: A collection of 19 stories, and a couple of surprises.

Moon Hill is a forgotten place that few purposely visit, and even less leave. Once you arrive, the deep dark of the forest creeps into your mind and will not relent. Strange flowers that grow from deer carcasses, murderous lunatics, talking ravens, wriggling parasites that induce eruptive confessions, and demons of every variety: they all live here too.

Even so, the residents of Moon Hill can feel, beyond the fear and distress, that this land is special and they are lucky to live here. Most everyone feels that way right up until the day they come a little too close to the magic of this place. When dusk's light leaks through their carefully locked doors and rips holes in their minds.

Then, they pray for release.

About the Author

Anthony J. Rapino resides in Northeastern Pennsylvania, somewhere between the concrete of the city and the trees of the forest.  On occasion, you'll find him moderating the feverish battles between the creatures of these two arenas.  Whose side he's on is anyone's guess.

His debut novel, Soundtrack to the End of the World, is now available from Bad Moon Books.  When in doubt, his newest fiction can always be found carved inside a variety of autumn gourds.

5.0 out of 5 stars tricks and treats February 9, 2012
By Laurita
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book in 24 hours, not because it lacked material, but because I couldn't put it down.

Each story deals with a different horror, and yet they seem connected, whether by the mysterious town of Moon Hill, or by the dark, shadowy mind of the author.

One thing that impressed me about this collection was the atmosphere, like Halloween as you imagine it from childhood. It is a mix of all the colour and earthy goodness of October, mixed with the dark and twisted things lurking just out of sight. When we are finally faced with those things, the result is wickedly satisfying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling, Sweet, Funny, and Haunting February 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This collection covers a range of emotions, moods, tones, and styles - but all of them are clearly the product of a unique and engaging mind. Terror doesn't take long to take hold, but once it does - it won't let you go, and you won't let this book go until you're done.

It's like being blasted with a firehose spraying imagination at high-pressure instead of water. The sweet moments are as moving as the frightening moments are bleak - and the range of characters you will meet as you make your way through Moon Hill and the surrounding landscape is as mind-boggling as the wonders that befall them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, could not put it down! February 22, 2012

Very good collection with a deliciously eerie edge to them that makes you want to keep reading page after page to find out what else could be conjured up. The author has a novel being released soon and after reading his collections so far, I am eagerly awaiting that date!
