5.0 out of 5 stars The best band you've probably never heard!
While many people are familiar with flickerstick from VH1's Bands on the Run, their music remains unknown to most people. After listening to this album several times, I have come to the conclusion that there is not a single bad song on it. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut
Initially, I rated this album at 3 stars, but about a year or so after I wrote this review, I grew to love everything about this album. Anyway, here was my original review:

I really like a lot of the songs on this CD. However, I shy away from just about any song over 6 minutes long. I enjoy "Lift", my favorites, however, are "Coke", "Smile" (thanks for putting this...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best band you've probably never heard!, June 14, 2001

While many people are familiar with flickerstick from VH1's Bands on the Run, their music remains unknown to most people. After listening to this album several times, I have come to the conclusion that there is not a single bad song on it. Filled with classic pop rock songs like Chloroform, Coke, and Beautiful, the cd is very radio friendly. However, with sligtly lengthy and at times pshychadelic tracks such as Direct Line to the Telepathic and Lift, the album ... you in and doesn't let you down for a single second. I live in Oklahoma, and have been fortunate enough to see Flickerstick live. May I just say that Flickerstick is by far one of the best shows I've seen, even compared to acts like Dave Matthews Band. By far one of my favorite cds, you shouldn't do without Flickerstick!

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcoming Home a Phenomenal CD!, July 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Welcoming Home The Astronauts (Audio CD)
In a word, this CD and the band are fantastic. I had the recent pleasure of seeing them perform in Cleveland. If not for VH1's Band on the Run series I would have never even had the idea of checking out Flickerstick. Every song on this CD is stellar. Their live show is as passionate and musically rich as one would desire from a band...and more. Every time I listen to the CD, I'm just amazed at how good it really is. Brandin Lea's voice is passionate, Rex Ewing's guitar playing is top notch, and the entire production is worthwhile of a major-label release (which I understand they recently signed to Epic). Hopefully, it will get the recognition it truly deserves. It's unfortunate that the VH1 series never played their songs - or even a large part of the their live show - in their entirety. You will NOT be dissappointed! Give this one a listen and you'll know what I mean...

4.0 out of 5 stars Flickerstick hits the big time, October 14, 2001

Like most new fans of the group, I too got hooked while watching them on the VHI Bands on the Run series. Not only were they the most colorful personalities, but after listening to their CD, I feel they are just as talented as they are dramatic. I can only imagine how good their live show is and can not wait for them to come further North to check them out. Welcoming Home the Astronauts takes the listener on quite a ride from the rocking "Beautiful" and "You're so Hollywood" to the power ballad "Direct Line to the Telepathic," with twists and turns from the likes of "Coke" and "Chloroform the One That You Love." So sit back and enjoy the ride, my friends, and hope it lasts for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars How did I go so long without Flickerstick???, July 25, 2001
This review is from: Welcoming Home The Astronauts (Audio CD)
I stumbled upon VH1's Bands on the Run one night while channel surfing, and I am so glad I did. Flickerstick was my favorite from the minute I started watching. Their songs are great! I like the fact that the lead singer can actually sing, and that the guys are so talented. They honestly sound so good as a group. On the CD, I find myself picking out different parts of the song and listening to them, like Cory Krieg's lead guitar. He is awesome...

Some standout songs on this album are Lift (With Love we will survive), Chloroform the one you love, Beautiful, Coke, and Got a Feeling. They are all songs you want to hear on the radio. I can't believe that there are so many bands with recording contracts out there who aren't half as good as Flickerstick. Somebody needs to discover these cuties! I can't wait until they make it big...I can say I was a die-hard fan before they were even discovered. If you can't find this CD, try Flickerstick.com. I saw it advertised there. Ebay is a good source too. Go for Flickerstick...you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, Great Band, September 24, 2005

I'm new to Flickerstick but I was really impressed with this album. The songs are basically pop-rock but they really have a flare for the dramatic that pays off big with "Lift", "Got a Feeling" and "Direct Path...". If you're tired of the cookie-cutter stuff on the radio and are looking for a good, original band you should try this out. Their second album is also very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Modern Rock CD, September 29, 2002
By
Buford M. Bell (Greensburg, KY United States) - See all my reviews
Like a lot of people, I first heard about Flickerstick while hearing about VH1's 'Bands of the Run'. Once they were signed onto a major label, I was estatic. The cd is filled with enough great alternative pop songs, it will make any music fan happy. It is a shame that this talent was not signed earlier. Bradin Lea's lyrics are so heartrending, they almost make you want to choke up, overladen with great melodies. Every member of Flickerstick are terrific musicians. If you do not like Oasis, U2, REM, or any other artist that falls into this category, do not buy this, it's not for you, but if you are a fan of the bands above, pick this release up, you won't be dissapointed

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Rock and Roll Band, December 17, 2001
By
Rachel Britcher (Mifflintown, PA USA) - See all my reviews
I became a fan of Flickerstick through the VH1 show "Bands On The Run". You only got to hear a few of their songs on the show so I didn't really know what their music was like. After purchasing the album, I was blown away. The guys of Flickerstick really know how to put out quality music. It is not like some cds that only have a few good songs and then the rest is trash. "Welcoming Home The Astronauts" is filled with amazing songs. After buying the cd I had to see the guys in concert. After that amazing experience, I was hooked. The cd is great but you do not truly appreciate the band's music until you see them live. After speaking with the guys, I realized that they are true musicians that deserve to have a hit record. This cd is great and I would recommend it to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes!, January 1, 2005

(REAL NAME)
Once upon a time, I wrote a very thought out and spectacular review for this band/disc. Unfortunately, it seems to have been lost somewhere in cyberspace. Since I do not feel like trying to reproduce my once brilliant words (trust me) let me say only this: Flickerstick's WHTA is one of my "deserted island" CD's. (What 10 albums would you want with you if you were ever stranded on a....)

Flickerstick is great. This CD is great. But it. Don't make me re-write this again. My review gets worse each time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, April 24, 2004
They just played at my college last night (April 23,2004) and they were phenomenal. These guys take rock and roll and combine it with a nice soothing sound of vocals from the lead singer Brandin Lea to give all listeners a sense of being welcome, accepted, and happy to just be living. Welcoming Home The Astronauts is one of those albums that you can listen to when driving, when you're feeling down, or when you have a bunch of your closest friends at your house for a party. It doesn't matter, all that matters is that Flickerstick is one of my new favorites out there and if you liked "Astronauts" you should definitely check out their EP/DVD "To Madagascar and Back"! Thanks to Brandin, Fletcher, Cory, Rex, and Todd for one of the best nights of my life! ROCK ON!

"I've got to say
You're so beautiful
You're beautiful today
Can we make it through
Together we got to fly"
