5.0 out of 5 stars Polished indie has never sounded better
The Enemy were the winners of the Best New Band award at the 2007 Q Awards, and they certainly deserve the title. They sound like a more polished version of bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Pigeon Detectives, which means they will appeal to a much broader audience. 2.0 out of 5 stars Boring
This is really boring over-hyped British rock à la Arctic Monkeys. Do not get me wrong, it is not as horrible as it may sound but these bands do tend to sound the same a bit nowadays and one grows tired of them.

The Enemy were the winners of the Best New Band award at the 2007 Q Awards, and they certainly deserve the title. They sound like a more polished version of bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Pigeon Detectives, which means they will appeal to a much broader audience. They're a kind of band with a little bit for everybody: they have songs with truly meaningful lyrics (the best examples of this: 'You're Not Alone' and 'It's Not Okay'), they have slower songs (like 'Happy Birthday Jane'), and they have the more raw sounding songs that fans of the aforementioned bands Arctic Monkeys and The Pigeon Detectives will enjoy (like 'Technodanceaphobic' and '40 Days and 40 Nights'). This album went almost instantly on my list of favourites when I listened to it, because it was consistently good all the way through, and the 'low points' (like 'Happy Birthday Jane' and 'We'll Live and Die in These Towns,' the album's title track) really weren't all that low- in fact, they were better than most of the songs you hear on the average American radio station. This is a must have for anybody into British indie rock, and for anyone looking to get into it and needs a starting point. It was, in my opinion, one of the best albums of 2007.

I really enjoyed this album from the first song on. If you like bands like The Killers, The Bravery, Modest Mouse, and Kings of Leon you should definately give this album a listen to.
