Just to Teach Her a Lesson,
By
This review is from: We'll Never Tell (Paperback)
Essence Best-Selling Author Kayla Perrin delivers a compelling, suspenseful tale in her novel, We'll Never Tell. This fictional story is set at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY and centered at the Alpha Sigma Pi sorority house. The reader is immediately introduced to Phoebe, one of the sorority sisters of the house, and her fellow sorors and close friends, Miranda and Camille. Phoebe is a senior and engaged to Henry, the star of the football team and her high school sweetheart. Phoebe also has a good friend, Morgan, who is a member of Henry's fraternity. Phoebe's relationship with Morgan continues to be a sore spot in her and Henry's relationship. The trouble begins when Shandra James enters the lives of Phoebe and Henry. Shandra is a pledge of Alpha Sigma Pi and is very popular on campus, especially in Henry's fraternity house. Seeing Shandra openly flirt with Henry, and Henry responding, is one of the incidents that send Phoebe over the edge - literally! As a result, Phoebe designs an "initiation" for Shandra alone and drags Miranda and Camille along for the ride. When Shandra turns up missing, the three girls vow to never tell a soul what happened that night. However, Shandra's presence in the sorority house is missed and different people are drawing their own conclusions. Kayla Perrin created an exciting, nail-biting story of what it looks like when jealousy gets out of control. There were a lot of characters introduced that the author did a fairly good job of weaving into the storyline and helping the reader get to know. Yet, being that this is basically a "whodunit", it is important for the reader to be able to exonerate in their own mind the characters that were not involved in the crime. I recommend We'll Never Tell to those that have enjoyed Kayla Perrin's other novels and would enjoy a suspenseful read. Lena Willis APOOO BookClub

We'll Never Tell,

This review is from: We'll Never Tell (Paperback)
There is a lot more going on at the University of Buffalo then classes and extracurricular activities. Phoebe Matthews and her sorority sisters cook up some trouble in this suspenseful novel by Kayla Perrin.
When Phoebe spots Shandra James -- the school flirt with the Beyonce looks (and booty) -- hanging all over her boyfriend Henry, she sees red. Stepping up to her, she gives her a warning and tells her to back off. Not taking the hint, Shandra shows readers that she is the type of girl who goes for what she wants - no matter who tries to stop her. Phoebe and her best friends and sorority sisters Camille and Miranda decide to teach this pledge a little lesson. What was supposed to be just fun, games and a little humiliation, turns into a deadly prank, and the three friends find themselves in the middle of a crime scene. When word gets around that Shandra is missing, everyone begins to get suspicious. And although the three did not commit the crime, the evidence points directly to them. This is a very tough situation to get out of and these girls are about to pay the price and lose everything - unless they figure out exactly who else was out there that night. Ms. Perrin did an awesome job of developing all the characters' stories. So good, that you really had no clue who to believe, which made figuring out this whodunit all the more difficult.

Man Stealers,

This review is from: We'll Never Tell (Paperback)
What do you do about man stealers? These are women who have no respect for relationship boundaries and could care less if they are hurting someone in the process as they go after a man who is involved with someone. What to do about a person of this caliber is exactly what Phoebe, Camille and Miranda try to figure out in WE'LL NEVER TELL by Kayla Perrin.
At the University of Buffalo, Shandra James' reputation is well-known to everyone. Every man knows how to play her and every woman knows that she can't be trusted where their men are concerned. She currently appears to have her hooks set on Phoebe's fiancé, Henry. She is also pledging Alpha Sigma Pi sorority and is literally untouchable because she is a legacy. When Shandra bats too many lashes at Henry, Phoebe and her friends take matters into their own hands. What starts out as a lesson in degradation quickly ends up a murder investigation with Phoebe, Camille and Miranda taking a vow of silence. In her latest effort, Kayla Perrin has written a very engaging and pivotal story on lies, murder and sisterhood. The character development was excellent, as it helped to make this book a very cozy read with trips down memory lane from my college days. The story flowed smoothly, hitting the high points with a precision that sometimes left me with my mouth gaping wide open. This is a classic murder mystery thriller that will leave you wondering right up until the very end. Reviewed by Brenda M. Lisbon of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

interesting college amateur sleuth thriller,
This review is from: We'll Never Tell (Paperback)
At the University of Buffalo Alpha Sigma Pi pledge director Phoebe Matthews is irate when she sees Shandra James flirting with her man at a dance. She decides to teach the pledge to respect the territory of her sorority sisters. Using the help of her sisters, she enlists the aid of two of her sorority sisters, Camille and Miranda. They humiliate Shandra.
However, not long after Phoebe fixed the problem, Shandra vanishes. When her corpse is found, the Alpha Sigma Pi sisters wonder if perhaps the jealous Phoebe went too far. Shandra knows she is the prime suspect so she begins investigating before the cops break the "stories" of her two best friends. This is an interesting college amateur sleuth thriller due to the desperation of Phoebe whose avenging prank proves successful, but now lingers as proof of a motive to kill her rival in a crime of passion. The heroine's actions ring true from her jealous vengeance to her efforts to uncover the real killer before she is arraigned; her panicky inquiries are based on knowing she must find the culprit or face the consequences for an act she did not commit. Kayla Perrin provides a delightful whodunit enhanced by the question how far loyalty goes. Harriet Klausner

Sworn to secrecy, review by Sisterhood Book Club,

Shh....Shh....you hear something? Exactly, there's bodies of secrets on top of secrets that lies in the dark Letch Woods that surrounds the campus and in the ASP sorority house.
We'll Never Tell, is a psychological suspense thriller that takes the reader in the lives of some ladies that belongs to an Alpha Sigma Pi sorority. Everyone was happy until Shandra James the man stealer a.k.a hoe of the campus pledges for ASP sorority. Shandra brings drama to the sorority by going after her sister's boyfriends. Despite warning after warning it becomes a sport for her to win and make some unhappy couples crumple. All hell breaks loose when she goes after Phoebe fiancé Henry. Phoebe isn't the type to stand by after seeing with her own eyes that Shandra was digging her nails into her fiancé. Henry and Shandra push Phoebe into a corner, something snaps in Phoebe brain to leave her no choice but to come out fighting. Phoebe plays very dirty by double teaming Shandra with her two best friends, Miranda and Camille. One thing leads to another and only the dark Letch Woods knows what happen to Shandra after the three ladies leaves her out there alive. To find out the next day she is good as dead. This is my first book by Kayla Perrin and she has a fan for life. The book draws you into the lives of the characters and suspects until the very end. There's a lot of twists and turns of drama going on with the ASP sorority that is sworn to protect each other, even if it means going down for a murder. Note: I received this book off of paperback swap Hiding in The Shadows (Peace In The Storm Publishing Presents)

I enjoyed the book. This was my first time reading a Kayla Perrin book, but it will not be the last. I saw a preview for this book on the pace bus on my way to work. I looked it up once at work and ordered it the same day. I recommend this book. Some say that it is slow but I say it takes the time to build up the story and the players involved. I was surprised by the ending because I had someone else in mind.

It started out somewhat slow but after a few chapters, the story really picked up! Pheobe was a little nerve racking at times and I wanted to tell her to "WAKE UP and GET OVER IT" but was still a great read! Very suspensful and Kayala had the reader guessing "who done it" all the way until the last page!

It had me guessing whodunit and everytime I thought I knew who did it, it turned out another way. Great job and keep up the good work.
