Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Writing A Well-Worn Path: Thirty-One Daily Reflections For The Worshipping Heart was a labor of deep love for me. First, the deep love of God that compels you and I daily to find fresh language for living the life of faith, is behind these words. Secondly, the love in my own heart that draws me back again and again to the well of the Scriptures is behind these words, pressing us into the heart of the Father. I trust that this devotional will, in true Celtic spirit, giving your wandering in this life a focus, a Person, to guide your every step - back to the well-worn path.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Deeply Refreshing, Every-day-Practical Devotional October 22, 2013

Simple. Profound. Both deeply spiritual and easy to digest. These words of truth are the kind that seep down into the soul, stay for a while, and go deeper still next time around. A life well-saturated calling others to the living water - highly recommend as a daily drink.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Path into God's Presence October 22, 2013
By bw
Format:Kindle Edition
Dan Wilt has set out a way for us to be drawn into God's presence simply and quietly. His roots as a worship musician/songwriter together with the depth of a life lived in prayer and in community make this book profound and simple at the same time. The reflections speak to the deeper issues of the heart and offer an invitation for a day to be spent in the awareness of God's presence and activity. There is enough here to fill more than one 31 day cycle. I expect this Well-Worn Path will become a well-worn favourite on my book shelf and commend it to anyone who longs for intimacy in their journey with God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, yet profound devotional October 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As one starts--I'm only on day three of this devotional, one becomes keenly aware that Dan Wilt, the author, leans in to hear what God has to say to him. God is inviting us into his story, to walk in his rhythm, his peace, his light. The devotional evokes in me a strong desire to persevere and press in to God's heartbeat, God's light, God's voice. I cannot wait to get to tomorrow's devotion. Then again, perhaps I can because I'm still savoring what God spoke to me and is speaking to me, today, through the images that came to mind as I dialed down, quieted myself to hear more closely what God was/is saying between the pages and lines--away from the noise and chatter. To center myself in His love, His peace, His word.

When I feed regularly on the scriptures, my soul is filled with what Jesus promised - "a spring of water gushing up to eternal life." But often enough, as silly as it sounds, I just forget or let myself become overwhelmed with the cares of daily life that I don't leave enough space in my day for meditations on God's word. When I lose focus, I find it is helpful to reset myself by using a guidebook or plan to help structure/lead my devotional time. The last month, I was privileged to get an early copy of Dan Wilt's "A Well-Worn Path" book.

It was just the kind of simple structured path I needed to get my daily walk into a regular rhythm again. I've read a number of things Dan has written, and this may be his most piercing work yet. He doesn't mince words or paint pictures for pages. He gets to the heart of an issue in short order. Each scripture. Each day.

In fact, as I read each day through, I felt as though the devotionals were a sort of scriptural, even prophetic, declaration over my life. "Believe, Then See", "Enter Light", "Cease Worry", "Do Good", "Create With God", and on it went. Rather than giving placid generalities, Wilt throws a spear into the heart each day, by taking the most poignant edges of scripture and punctuating it with a simple phrase of instruction. After a further paragraph or two of clarity he offers up a prayer that we can join in immediately.

The devotions are simple, one page, and a pure gasp of clean air from the atmosphere of heaven. Much of Dan Wilt's writings are crafted stories and imagery meant to bring you into the heart of the matter. "A Well-Worn Path" is much more direct and works well as a month-long progression that doesn't tire you out from his style or topics.

5.0 out of 5 stars This will be a "well-worn" devotional October 25, 2013
By Robyn
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This devotional of 31 readings is an inspiring and encouraging daily read. The declaration of each days theme in the opening few sentences, combined with the selected scripture and ending prayer, capture the longing and desire of every believer's heart to want to live a life that truly reflects the person of Christ.
The topics are relevant, and each message is sincere and heartfelt. Wilt brings back to our attention the importance of these practices in a fresh way and new hope is instilled in us. In the few minutes it takes to read the days devotional, you are impacted by the presentation of its simplicity and truth to live more intentionally the gospel message. Your heart will respond to the depth of these readings and be encouraged. They are beautifully and well written.
This devotional is for new believers who are beginning the journey of following Christ and for those who have journeyed long, the well-worn path.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep calling to deep October 25, 2013

Shared devotion that reaches into the Spiritual depths; this is genius in the Spiritual realm, connecting hearts to God that forms a bond across borders, barriers, busyness--the substance between "stones builded together."

3.0 out of 5 stars questioning March 20, 2014

For the most part I found no fault, but on receiving salvation I did question the incomplete message. The author has apparently
not studied Acts 2:38 or Matthew 28:18-20 plus several other God inspired scriptures dealing with salvation.
