They were thinkers and philosophers in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the founder of the rationalistic Confucian philosophical school of Song and Ming Dynasty. They were born into a family with official heritage. From a very long period, they settled down in Luoyang, recruiting students and giving lectures. The successors compiled the ana and works of them into a book called Complete Works of the Two Chengs
