This gripe water works well for my baby! No longer do we have 20 minute screaming fits 10 minutes after feeding. I'm also super happy that it is completely organic and has no parabens. But here's the caveat:

Gripe Water is designed specifically for infant reflux. It does NOTHING for gas - if anything, it can produce more gas. These herbs are the so-called 'hot herbs' that are able to tame stomach acid and curb nausea. Don't you remember hearing that you should take ginger when you had morning sickness? It also contains sodium bicarbonate, which is baking soda - the main ingredient in alka-seltzer. This is for spit-up, vomiting, reflux, wet burps, hiccups, and crying and fussiness due to esophageal pain from stomach acid only.

However, if your infant is having severe intestinal pain from gas passing, I can heartily recommend probiotics. Udo's choice worked well for me (http://www.amazon.com/Udos-Choice-Infants-Probiotic-2-64-Ounces/dp/B0010EG6QC), but I'm sure most brands would be good, provided that they have a wide range of acidophilus and bifobacteria types. You can also take a probiotic yourself, if you are breastfeeding.

The one thing I can't recommend is gas drops. Several scientific studies have shown simethicone to have no effect above placebo.

Remember - colic is not just one thing! It's a stupid catch-all term. Your baby's cry means something, it just takes work to figure out what is causing them distress. Don't give up if these don't work for you. Even if it is reflux, it might be too strong for gripe water to work, and you might have to resort to a proton-pump inhibitor medication, like Zantac or Prevacid. You can also tell the difference between gas pain and stomach pain by how long has passed since they ate last, and whether or not they are tooting or burping/spitting while they cry.

I had to read the negative reviews just to see what was said since I've already bought it. I usually only look at reviews to decide to buy something, and when I check the negative reviews I second guess a product because of that one person who decides that everyone should be as unhappy as they are.
When I used this gripe water, it worked amazingly! My baby had awful gas when she was younger and she would cry and cry, and nurse and cry, and cry while she nursed... For HOURS. As a single mom it's emotionally draining when nothing you do helps.
But when I started giving her gripe water, my baby would burp almost immediately after taking the dropper out of her mouth. Or fart. It was amazing! It would also work on her hiccups most of the time.
The nice part about it, is that she didn't fight me about it since it tastes a little like juice from the pomegranate in it.
Not gonna lie, sometimes when she was inconsolable, I would give her a dose just because I knew it would make her happy.
We love it.

Adding ingredients to my review since someone was upset about it having sucrose in it and gave it a bad review because they didn't do research first...

Herbal Blend: Organic Ginger Extract (zingiber officinale) (root), Organic Fennel Extract (foeniculum vulgare) (seed) Organic Chamomile (flower).
Other Ingredients: Filtered Water, Organic Agave Fructose, Organic Pomegranate Juice Concentrate (for flavor), Organic Glycerin, Citric Acid, Sodium Bicarbonate.

This product, although worked well, went bad after three weeks! I went to give it to my 10 week old son, and there was mold at the bottom! I stored it in the fridge as the bottle instructed, and it was opened less than four weeks (the bottle says to throw away after 6 weeks). Will not be buying again.

I actually use this for my daughter's reflux, and it calms a flare at least 75% of the time. I have tried a few other gripe water brands, and this is definitely the best. Plus I know it's organic, and that makes me feel good about giving it to her. However, when she gets gassy it has not seemed to help much.

This product very well could have been considered to save our life for our baby's first two months of life. Not to get too graphic, but he couldn't poop and would get really fussy. We could give him this and within a few hours he would poop and be happy and be able to sleep again. I would highly recommend this stuff!

Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) The baking soda manufacturers state on the warning label on their product, "WARNING" - Except when advised by a physician: Do not use the maximum dosage of this product for more than 2 weeks; Do not give to children under 5 years of age;" It is important to note when a baby is colicky and/or gassy, it does not mean that the baby has an acidic stomach - it may very well be an alkaline stomach. Introducing sodium bicarbonate (an alkaline) into the baby's diet over a period of days or weeks can cause the pH in the baby's stomach to become too alkaline and may actually cause the baby to have a colicky condition again. Sodium bicarbonate has been shown to deplete and interfere with Folic Acid and Iron, indicating that it may affect the function or absorption of the two.

After reading this I decided to use ColicEase along with a probiotic called Jarrow Formulas Baby's Jarro-Dophilus. Both are sold on Amazon. I used ColicEase for a few days until the probiotic started balancing out her belly. ColicEase does contain Sodium Bicarbonate (like Mommys Bliss and most other Gripe Water formulas nor does it contain Charcoal like ColicCalm does. Worked like a charm. No more reflux, or gas. No more spit up or fussing while nursing and bottle feeding.
