In the 80's I had a top of the line custom built Boss BMX bike. back then, the pedals of choice were mostly Shimano platform, with the same studs and parallelogram shape as these Wellgos. Those nice wide studded platforms, combined with a pair of Vans created the ultimate grip for jumps, bunnyhops, quarter-pipes, etc.

I recently purchased a mountain bike (I am 43 now) and it had everything I wanted, but it had those standard alloy claw-type pedals, which felt to me like I never really had solid contact with my bike. The contact between your feet and the pedals is the most critical point over any other.

I did not want to use toeclips and I am not going to get into clipless pedals with the special shoes they need, mainly because if I am on a downhill and I happen to bail, I do not want my feet stuck to my bike. I have used toeclips before on my previous MTB and the few times I crashed were made worse because there was never enough time to react and get my feet out of the clips.

So, after I got my current bike, I decided on these Wellgos, mainly because they were the least expensive I could find in this style with sealed bearings. I then got a new pair of Vans (1st time in like 25+years)and the grip was awesome. These pedals really work best with flat BMX shoes. I do not recommend running shoes with these because the sole thickness and arch support create an undesirable level of grip and feel.

The only negative thing I can say is that they are more than twice as heavy as the alloy pedals they replaced, but I expected that.

I've had these pedals for 2 years now and they are great. Your feet don't slip off the pedal no matter how much you press into them. These are great for around town or going down a mountain.

The CNC build make these pedals very tough, for the price they are a great pedal. You can get some cast DB pedals at wallyworld that are similar looking but the bearings are not sealed and the lugs are fixed and not replaceable. I’m a senior mountain bike rider and like the feel of the platform pedals on my big tired feet.

I put these on my very cheap bike to replace the no-name rubbish. They give great grip and a very steady platform, as you'd expect from big studded platforms like this.

But I was plagued by clicking in the bottom bracket area, and no amount of tightening fixed it (pedals to cranks, cranks to BB, chainring to spider...), so I finally replaced the crappy no-name bottom bracket. And the noise remained!

It hadn't occurred to me that the branded, fairly new pedals would be the problem here. I swapped back to the crappy ones and now my bike is finally silent again.

Given that I see other complaints of clicking with similar Wellgo pedals, and that it was coming from *both* these pedals, I can only conclude that they're defective by design or manufacture. Waste of money, unless you are happy riding around announcing your presence with clickety clickety click all the time (about 8-10 clicks per revolution by the time I took them off - one year old, been clicking for more than half that).

I looked at the original plastic pedals and thought it was time to upgrade. The originals did not have a rough surface and my foot would slip off on occasion when pedaling. So i searched amazon and found these alloy pedals with 8 cleats on each side. Bought them, Installed them, and my shoes don't move until I say so.

got these for my wife and she loves them.they are a little heavy but shes not racing.a small price to pay for no maintenance since they have sealed bearings.was having to deal with a similar pair with loose bearings and it was a huge time consumer and headache breaking them down, greasing them then readjusting once a month.

These grip great. I'm not a clipless MTB rider, so these do the job!

I put these pedals on my wife's Specialized Myka 29er and she felt much more grip than before.
The pedals are big and solid with just the right amount of crosshatch in the pedal to give extra
grip in the middle where there are no posts. Easy to install with just a wrench and you're back on
the bike in minutes.

Great price for a good aftermarket accessory and if you ride off-road these are a good pick in this
price category.
