Had my big noble boy dog, who had been with me for ten years, die of Cancer recently. He was a animal shelter rescue (As all my pets have been, and are.), and a great creature who never wanted to ever show weakness. By the time he did show weakness, the Cancer was far too advanced to operate on or save him and he died within a month.

That set me to feeding my two dogs (His mate who is still with me, and her new mate) ONLY quality dog food. It costs more; but after seeing what was in the average store dog food on internet posts, and confirmed on dog food cans labels, that convinced me to try something better.

I researched the net for the top ten dog foods, and this brand kept coming up in the lists consistently; including Veterinary sites. Made only with grain free quality ingredients, and otehr healthy additions for good digestion, my two dogs eat it enthusiastically, and I highly recommend it.

Both dogs are fed Wellness brand "Beef Stew" and Wellness brand "Lamb and Beef Stew", alternating for variety in their diets; they love both equally, and both canned foods are equally healthy.

So I finally found this food after months of experimenting with different brands. After Healthy Extensions, Purina One Beyond (which is probably garbage), and Blue Buffalo, I finally settled on Wellness brand food. My little mini-doxie got very sick off a can of Blue Buffalo chicken so I swore off any chicken for them, but their beef stew I'd also recommend. Purina One Beyond used to make both my mini-doxie and Papillon have just odd bathroom habits ultimately culminating in almost scheduled bouts of diarrhea. The pattern was so odd I didn't even realize it was Purina until I switched them over to Wellness Simple diet and that stopped immediately. I decided to do a mix of Wet/Dry so I switched the dry to Wellness Small Breed Super5Mix and got Wellness Beef Stew. Those have been the staples of my dogs diets for the past year and they have been happy and healthy. No mysterious bouts of diarrhea, no weird blockages, and happy dogs! Even my cat will try to sneak some of it, i guess it's good!

My dog is now older so she is not happy having to take so many pills. I switched from the more solid Wellness (which is still pretty good) to the stew line since thanks to the thick gravy I no longer have to use most of the can to hide medication. I agree with some of the reviews that my dogs stools were a little on the runny side but figuring out that it was due to whitefish and not of the food itself I just stopped buying the ones with whitefish listed and she has yet to have the same side effect. So take that into account with your pet it could be something listed that was not apart of your dog food before.

The ratings for this food are among the highest and my Labrador LOVES this stuff! I feel very good giving him this high quality food and am glad that my picky eater wants something that is so good for him. It's chunky and you can see peas, carrots, potato, and, of course, the chunks of meat. I highly recommend this product!

This is great food that I have bought for my dogs many times; however, buying online, you loos the ability to pick the cans that are not dented as these can have broken seals and bacteria growing in the can. I bought this food and 6 of the 12 lamb and beef cans were severely dented and appear to have been packaged even in the internal packaging that way (maybe from the manufacturer?). I will not be buying this online again.

Every can was crushed but not a mark on packaging They must be buying dented/smashed cans and repackaging them for sale on Amazon.
Wellness dog food is a good product but dented cans are not safe for pet to eat.

My Boxers were showing signs of allergies - bronzing on their paws, itchy skin...
My research showed that Duck was an "allergy cool food". That in combination with the fact that "Wellness" is a very highly ranked pet food company led me to this product.
Since introduction (3 months ago) to their feedings the bronzing is gone. The fact that they LOVE this food also makes meals a happier event for all of us !
I tried the much more expensive (more than double the price) "Blue Buffalo Wolf Creek Hearty Duck Stew" also.
Here's my quick comparison; "BB" uses chicken as the second protein, potatoes and peas... whereas "Wellness" uses turkey, sweet potatoes and cranberries. The meaty chunks and gravy have the same consistency. and are both basically fortified with the same nutrient supplements...
My girls seem to prefer the "Wellness" over the "Blue Buffalo". I'm saving $$$ and they are happy. Win/win !!!
With Amazon Prime it's free shipping straight to my door ! Win/win/win !!!!
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality pet food.
