James Baldwin is on his swansong motorcycle ride in upstate New York. He's dying. Author has never spent time in Wellsville,

I read the first couple pages and became annoyed and insulted. My father grew up in this very real town of Wellsville. I have spent a great deal of my life there and on the first page the author makes the towns people sound like red-necks afraid of bikers, which is laughable if you really are from Wellsville.
However, I will probably read more of this book and perhaps if I were not so familiar with the town of Wellsville (or if I can imagine that it is some other fictional town) the story may be more enjoyable. P.S. I came across this book accidentally while looking for books about motorcyling in upstate New York.
