4.0 out of 5 stars Everything I wanted, and nothing extra
I prefer this model because it has a good assortment of the types of tools I use most, and no corkscrew.

The blades are a little hard to unfold, but are sturdy and sharp. I like that the phillips screwdriver folds out at a 90 degree angle to the handle. The handle itself is definitely more ergonomic than traditional swiss army knives.

For me,...

For me, this knife is still small and light enough to be considered a "pocket" knife, but that's a matter of personal preference.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than it appears, June 16, 2009
1. Blade of Wenger is wider than that of its equivalent Victorinox.
2. Combination of tools is quite practical (extra weight from secondary smaller blade and corkscrew is gone)
3. Body provides perfect grip. Victorinox tends to slip out of my hands.
4. Stiff design, pulling out a tool requires more effort than for a Victorinox
5. Steel is sharp! Scissors are slightly serrated, "saw" is awesome.

I recommend this knife wholeheartedly

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect outdoors or hiking pocket knife!, February 1, 2010
The Wenger EVO Grip 18 is a step in the right direction. The tool itself has most everything you would need in a fairly small package making it the right fir for a hike or backpacking trip.

One very unique and useful detail is the new "Grip" style rubber like pads that make holding and using this knife easy. The ergonomic handles are a definite plus as well.

With a lifetime warranty and great Swiss craftsmanship you can't go wrong with this pocket tool/knife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent knife, better than Victorinox, February 17, 2010
Among my camping and hiking knives are a red Evogrip 18, Kershaw Chive 1600, and Victorinox Huntsman, Spartan, and several others. In my last two years of ownership, I noticed that Victorinox knives never get used. I rely almost exclusively on the Evogrip, because it feels safer to hold.

All my knives are good steel but what really makes a difference is the handling. I would "never" want to see a knife slip out of my hands, and the designers of this knife did their best to minimize chances of accidents.

In addition, Swiss army knives (specially the Evogrip) never look sinister in public. You can carry one around to eat apples in restaurants or use them for packaging stuff at the post office.

This review is from: Wenger 16807 Swiss Army Knife Evogrip 18 Ergonomic Design Non-Slip Handles 2.5-Inch Blade Stainless Steel (Tools & Home Improvement)
I like it very well. Theres only 2 tools I'd like to have on it that aren't. That would be the pliers, and magnifying glass.

I purchased this pocket knife at a mediocre price. My expectation was high assuming that I was getting a Swiss knife. But after a couple weeks, my expectation grew into disappointment. The first problem was the blades that were very difficult to pull out. Due to this, I turned my left hand thumbnail backwards, which caused a lot of pain, lasting for 2 weeks until it healed. The second issue was the outer plastic cover that got damaged from day one. After two months, the plastic cover on both sides look like the knife was used for 10 years; scratched up and damaged. Note that I am not a heavy user and work at office environment. The third issue was the 'weight" of this knife. Despite of having various blades, this knife is too heavy to carry around. I see that as a "design" flaw.

The last straw that broke the back of the camel was the harassment I got from this company. Since they had my email address, they started sending SPAM. I ignored it initially, but SPAM kept coming in. I politely asked to be removed from their mailing list (3 times), but they still continue to SPAM as of this day.

Bottom line, this pocket knife is not so good, plus this company is in the business of SPAMing.
