I've had my Swiss army knife in my pocket every day for nearly 30 years and used some implement of it at least once every single day. Last week, in my rush to catch a flight, I lost that knife to the TSA. Hopefully it really will be returned to me, but that drop box said $12.95 and four weeks for delivery. I have hope, but not patience. Not having my pocket tool chest with me is like missing part of my hand, so I seized this opportunity to get an upgraded, new one.

The previous knife was called the Motorist, as I recall from 1982, and it had quite a bit that the new knife (S54, Wenger 16812) has so I can comment on what works well and what didn't matter to me:

Knife blade ... The Motorist's steel was not hard enough to stay razor sharp, but the S54 seems sharper. I suppose as an adolescent male I might have sharpened the old blade very wrong a few hundred times. As an older and wiser man, I'll be more careful with the new blade. The S54 also made this a LOCKING blade and that is a nice upgrade to go along with the grips.

Cap Lifter ... it works also as a flat-blade screwdriver. Very simple. It just works.

Can Opener ... another simple tool that does open cans of soup at lunch. Nowadays most cans have pull tabs though.

Scissors ... I never liked the Victorinox scissors because of that spring that breaks. The Wenger scissors are a better design with a metal bar that never breaks. My 30 yr old scissors still worked, but the blades didn't perfectly mate anymore. The new S54 scissors neatly cut a dangling thread from my sleeve as neatly as a Fiskars and that is very nice.

Phillips Driver ... stubby, but useful. At 30 years, mine was STARTING to get notches from over torquing. The S54 is new and shiny.

Corkscrew ...

I love the knife & it is very well made & is sturdy . My only issue is that it has only 1 knife blade that is sharp to cut things & the size of it is rather big . That is my only issue's about it , but its very nice . I truly wish that it had 1 more smaller blade to cut with though . The size is ok just bigger than i thought it would be . Its a great knife though & i love it . I chose the right one for sure !

I think the quality is fantastic and it's got tons of great tooks. If I had a 'complaint' thogh, it's that it's almost TOO big - and the images don't depict it as such. But it's a GREAT knife. Pockect sized? I'm not so sure. Needs a case. But great all around.

i bought this as a gift for my son. It was a very good knife and I thought the price was great compared to some other places I had checked . The only down side was it was a lot bigger than expected.

I won't go into a deep analysis of the product, but I will say that this one's the best one I've had. You will actually use pretty much everything on this baby at least once.
