It is in my honest opinion that the Wenger Apprentice is the best everyday pocket knife that ever existed. Its slim, its sleek, the tools are well thought out, its made of good materials, and the fit and finish are fantastic. The reason I like this one over the Victorinox Cadet is the overall shape and the addition of the toothpick and tweezers. THIS MODEL DOES COME WITH A TOOTHPICK AND TWEEZERS. This model is also extremely similar to the Victorinox Recruit, however instead of the second blade it has a nail file/cleaner. The 84mm Vic's tend to have a non uniform shape that gets narrower on one end of the knife. The apprentice however is one uniform shape that is a bit wider and thinner than the comparable vic's (but in a very good way). The pen knife's are a bit different too. The Vic's have a more kephart approach to their blades, while the Wenger's have more belly. Both work and both work well.

With Wenger no longer making swiss army knives and this knife directly competing with existing Vic types, I honestly doubt this knife will ever exist again. Do yourself a favor and buy one (or two like me) while stores still have them in stock, you wont regret it.

I got one of these on sale two or three years ago at a local Big 5 when it was on a special sale for $13. I never had a swiss army knife before and I thought I would try one out. I did some research to see what the difference between Wenger and Victorinox swiss army knives and found out that they are actually manufactured by the same company under two different brands. As for the knife, the single spear point blade is large enough for many tasks and sharpen to a very sharp edge. It does not have many tools although each is very useful. Since it has only has 8 tools so it is slim with only two tiers and is really light. I was a little disappointed because this model does not include tweezers or a toothpick but the tools it has are very useful. The tools I use most is the nail file and the flat head screwdriver. I like it so much I made a kydex sheath for it and now it goes with me everywhere. I have many pocket knives both production and custom, and they don't see as much carry time as this does. Try one of any of these or a Victorinox model if you are on the fence. They also make nice aluminum handled ones too.
