For more than 100 years Wenger has produced professional butcher knives, kitchen knives, and Genuine Swiss Army Knives. Wenger Grand Maitre flat heel stamped knives are manufactured in Delemont, Switzerland using custom blended European steel manufactured exclusively for Wenger. During the Grand Maitre manufacturing process, the blade is cut out of a flat sheet of stainless steel and then ground, tempered, polished and sharpened. This technique results is a knife that is flatter and lighter than forged knives, which reduces hand fatigue with long or repetitive use. The custom stainless steel features an optimal blend of strength and flexibility, (Rockwell hardness tested between 55-58 depending on the specific knife and its function), wear/corrosion resistance, and a long- lasting edge (the edge angle varies between 25 and 30 degrees, also depending on the specific knife and its function). The handle is made from Grilon, a Swiss-made polymade that is non- porous and resistant to high temperatures. A hermetic seal between the handle and blade prohibits dirt or germs from accumulating. Grand Maitre knives are 100-percent Made in Switzerland and are dishwasher safe. Popular two piece starter set includes a 8-3/4-inchchef's knife and a meat fork.
