Overall, this is a great backpack for people looking to get maximum usage out of a day bag. My only complaint is that it's a little bulkier and heavier than the image would seem to indicate, and it could probably do with some streamlining of the compartments (two of the main sections connect, which can be annoying when objects travel within the bag). On balance, it's worth the money for a sturdy piece of work, and if you love zippers, this is your bag.

SwissGear seems to have dominated the affordable backpack market. I got this bag after one I bought at Wal-Mart ripped through the bottom in less than a week. I was surprised how sturdy this bag felt. The material is extremely thick, and I feel like I can carry dumbells in this thing. There's actually a think metal reinforcer that lines the handle at the top (a notoriously weak area for most bags). Zippers are nice and thick, more so than other bags, so they haven't broken (yet). There are 11 metal zipper handles. There is also a small carabiner keychain included.

Like the other reviewer, the only thing I would change would be the fact that the two main compartments aren't 100% separated. There are 3 separators that divide/line the second section, and one of them serves to separate it from the main section. However, I don't really see this being a problem, unless you plan to carry sand and don't want it to spill between compartments.

Get this bag, it won't let you down.

This is a nice bag but I was not expecting it to be so heavy.
I also think that the padded straps are not that comfortable.
However the bag is durable, has a big volume and will carry your laptop safely.

This SwissGear backpack is great. It's actually larger than I expected and has room for everything I need to carry. Based on the quality of others items from this company, I expect to be using this bag for years.

This backpack has everything! I can carry everything. Two bags then, now all fit in this backpack! What else do you want? Short to the point, buy this one!

I went out of my way to find a greater than average backpack for college and I did a lot of browsing at amazon to come to this conclusion. This backpack has everything that I need with plenty of space to hold all that I can carry. I have a relatively large notebook that fits nice and snug in this backpack. Weight distribution is really great for this thing. When carrying my large textbooks to class I'll feel heavier as a whole (and slower) rather than just heavier on my back. Strain is not concentrated solely on the back but gets distributed evenly across the body. Air distribution is also great. Walking around in Texas heat all deal builds up a sweat but my backpack always stays comfortable and cool. Heat does not build up and stay locked in the back. One little feature that I really appreciate about this backpack is that it has a solid base and backbone which allows it to stand on its own when put on the floor. In class I notice people around me have to lean their backpack against the desk or wall. My backpack is free to sit where ever I put it. It takes a little effort in getting the weight distributed evenly but once you place it on its center, I will sit up all on its own. I will say that this backpack is heavier than average so this is not really a backpack for those who travel really light. This backpack is for the heavy user who carries more on him/her. I like to have everything I need to get my school work done on me so that I can sit down anywhere and study. I have had this backpack for two months at college and I have no wear or tear to report. Everything has held together and looks like it will continue to do so for a long time. I know that I made a great purchase with a high quality backpack that will last with me in the long run.

Bought this for my son who has about 14 lbs of books to carry and the construction is very durable. It also distributes the weight of the pack on his shoulders better with the top attachment being all the way across. He states it does not dig into his shoulders like others he has had. When this one wears out we will definitely be looking at SwissGear for any future purchases.

This bag is everything you need for short or long trips with your laptop. Plenty of organizational compartments. Very good construction! So happy with first purchase that I have purchased a 2nd one of these for my husband. SwissGear is a very good brand.

I purchased in July of 2009 - almost 2 and half years ago. I use the backpack dayly to go to work. In addition I fly twice a month. The backpack holds a lot and after over 2 years of use still looks new. I am considering buying a new one but I am afraid it will not be as durable as the one I have ...

I searched and searched for this backpack, and was thrilled to finally find it from Action Packaged, Inc. on Amazon. Then in arrived - wrong bag. Then I contacted the company, they don't have the right one, and have no idea when they'll get it. This bag LOOKS awesome in the picture, and of all the other bags I looked at on line - probably over 200, I chose this one. Unfortunately, I don't think it exists...much to my chagrin.
