4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money, August 29, 2005

This review is from: Wenger Tyrolean II 2-Room Family Dome Tent (Sports)
I purchased this tent to replace one from a different manufacturer that wore out last summer. I normally like to see my tents in person before I buy, but I didn't like anything I saw locally. I took a chance on this tent and am fairly pleased. Prior to my family's first camping trip with it, my wife and I set it up in the back yard. It went up pretty easy, although I think the instructions may have mixed up the front and back poles - according to the instructions, the front pole is slightly longer than the back, but we ended up reversing them for what seemed to be a better fit. This is one of those tents that you have to have completely set up, with the guy lines tight, before the interior floor space lays flat. Once set up, I found the interior very roomy, but shaped oddly. We used two full-size inflatable matresses, placed in a "T" formation, and there was plenty of room for my wife and I and two children, and our suitcases. There are a few handy pockets on the sides, as well as an optional overhead storage net. I'm stand 5'10" tall, and I can only stand upright in highest part of the tent, without the optional net. I found the entrance zippers a little tedious to use. Not that looks have anything to do with it, but the tent is pretty sharp. As with most tents, the storage bag could be a little larger. For the money, I'd recommend this tent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied for a "big" tent, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Wenger Tyrolean II 2-Room Family Dome Tent (Sports)
We purchased this sport dome tent this past december 2005. Since it's only been a month, we have used it only once so far.

I was in the market for something bigger since for the past 5 years my tent was a 9X9 dome, and it started getting snug with all our gear + 2 dogs.

So having good luck with a dome tent we stuck with the same structure. It looks a little different for a dome but for the price we were willing to try it out.

Set up was easy. We ended setting up the tent in about 20 minutes. The rainfly took a little figuring out which way it went on but after about 5 minutes we figured it out (this is why you want to set up your tent prior to going camping).

We got a little wind that night but the tent didn't budge or even need to be restaked. It had tons of room for everything. We slept on a queen size mattress and tons of extra space. We got a light sprinkle of rain overnight but no water leaked in at all. There was a little dew on the rainfly inside was completely dry. The dew dried up by noon and we packed up the gear completely dry.

Overall I am very satisfied with this tent and would recommend it for family camping.
