4.0 out of 5 stars Great sleeping pad
This was a great sleeping pad. Inflation is not always instantaneous, but after setting up the mat, and going outside the tent to enjoy yourself for a while, the time it takes to inflate is insignificant. Overall, good sturdy sleeping pad.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, one was broken
Bought 3 mats, one of them had holes on the side (the glue was not strong enough?).

Great mat to sleep on while camping and my girlfriend thought so also after taking a nap on it so I had to get another one because I wasn't going go sleep on the el' cheap-o mat she had.

Wish the mat was wider but everything else was great and the air never deflated during the night and I'm a 250 lb guy.

*When you first get the mat inflate it before your trip because it takes awhile (1 hour for me) but after the first time it's pretty quick like 10-20 mins depending on how firm you like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice to have for backpacking, November 9, 2006
This review is from: Wenger Self-inflating Mat (Sports)
I bought this for a 5-day backpacking trip through a canyon in Utah. It was a great price and worked well. However, it is rather big and adds a few lbs to the pack. You will most likely have to hang it outside the pack which can become cumbersome at times.

Overall, pretty conformable and very reasonably priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best self inflating mat we've ever found, October 21, 2005

This mat inflates well and with a small amount of blowing can be pumped thicker for extra comfort. The air inlet/outlet works very well making for rapid expulsion of air and rapid roll up. The outer shell is also of good quality and not too slippery. Would recommend this mat to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Self Inflating Mat Really Works, September 29, 2005
This review is from: Wenger Self-inflating Mat (Sports)
Before we purchased the self-inflating mats we bought a kingsize air mattress. Besides having to inflate this mattress with electricity, which is darn inconvient when camping, it lost air the first night, for which these particular inflatables are infamous. Trying to move around inside the tent felt much like being at sea, rockin' and rollin' with every movment. So we returned the kingsize air mattress and purchased two of the self-inflating mats. These worked perfectly with a little additional blowing up. They are firm yet comfortable. Our only complaint was we couldn't snap them together, so we taped them with duct tape. A bit of a hassel, but worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cheap mat, August 30, 2006
This review is from: Wenger Self-inflating Mat (Sports)
I recently purchased this mat and put it through it's paces for 10 days during Pennsic War in Pennsylvania. It performed quite well and is simplicity itself -- unroll, unscrew two air valves, wait 10 minutes or so, and close the valves. The mat is now inflated and ready to go.

While not the most comfortable mat I've used, it certainly was adequate and I slept quite well on it. It's compact, cheap and simple. If you don't want a pump air mattress but do want something between you and the ground, get this self-inflating mat.

This mat had fantastic padding and a built-in pillow (oh yea- very important for neck pain sufferers like moi). It rolled out easy and I had to puff it just a bit to get it to my requirement. Plenty of water-proof cushioning- had to push off therma rest users from my pad. ;) However, they (therma-rest users) were able to wrap up their pad quite easily back into a compact shape the next morning and getting the Wenger to wrap back up as thin as when it first arrived has been a bit hard. But then again, since I am not back-packing with this but only camping, I can easily stow it in a vehicle. Overall, great value for money. And definitely glad I bought this versus the more expensive therma-rest given the extra padding etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal, January 15, 2006
This review is from: Wenger Self-inflating Mat (Sports)
I bought this mat for my husband, who is an avid camper, because he is going on a week and a half camping trip. He fell in love with it. It is a little slow to inflate, but well worth it. He and our 3 year old "camp out" in the living room just so he can use it. I am going to buy one for me soon so I can camp in comfort also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wenger Self-inflating Mat, April 25, 2007
This review is from: Wenger Self-inflating Mat (Sports)
My reason for purchasing the Wenger was: it was self-inflating, the thickness
was more than an inch and its width was greater than 20 inches. I found the
the mat comfortable and am satisfy with the purchase. I did place a towel
under the pillow to raise it. The only problem I had was deflating the mat,
it longer than I like. Also, the straps to hold the rolled mat were a little
short. Last, it is a little heavy, so I added a strap so I can hang it over
my shoulders.

I searched the internet and read about self-inflating for several months before finally purchasing this one. I have to say that I am very pleased with it. I have used it on several camping trips now and have found it to be very comfortable. It does take a while to inflate (especially the first time.)If weight is not a big factor for you, I would say that this mat is an excellant choice.
