If it still hurts, Read this.,

This review is from: I Went to the Animal Fair: A Journey Through Madness to Meaning (Hardcover)
This book puts words to the confusion and pain that happens when you go through life with an abusive father or no father at all. This book does not candy coat feelings of greif or gives a quick fix solution. Instead, it brings the hurt out in the open and shows how God can heal them no matter how deep they go. I thank God for Heather. She tells her real life story. It's nice to know you're not alone.

Haven't we ALL been to the Animal Fair at some point?,

A must read for parents, adult children, teachers: powerful, multi-leveled, insightful. From start to finish, I found myself following Heather's journey, peeling away layer after layer of my own trek. Whether abused or pampered, "father-less, father-ed, or mis-fathered", the reader will be poignantly drawn to reflect on layers of personal identity, faith, despair, God, disillusionment, and the child-parent tug-of-war in each of us. A satisfying read and re-read, one which caulks at some of life's holes, and yet leaves others wonderfully unchinked.
