I was pleased with the quality and construction of this loaf pan, but disappointed with the size. They indicated it would be 9 x 5 in. It was 9 in. long, but the usable width was more like 3 in. I have another silicone loaf pan from another manufacturer. The problem with that one is that it bows out on the sides, so I was hoping this design would correct that problem. It would have but the size was too small for my purposes.

I now use these pans exclusively whenever I bake bread in the oven (2-4 loaves a week.) I must confess that I received them as a gift and let them lay in the package for almost a year before trying them. I liked to grease my metal pans for a crusty, browned, "fried" surface. I imagined that a silicone pan would leave the bread pasty and damp. To my surprise, when I finally tried them, the pans brown the bread, both bottom and sides, without using a drop of oil or crisco.
This pan is to be preferred over many other silicone pans that I have tried or looked at: The 3 ribs you see on the sides act like the flying buttresses on Notre Dame Cathedral and keep the sides of your bread loaf straight. Some pans without ribs on the sides allow the loaf to bulge out as it bakes, and not have as pleasing a shape.
This is a well-engineered bread pan. I rarely write reviews, but I looked it up to buy more today and thought I'd let you know.
I also have the 8X8 square pan with the same wavy-ridge bottom and I use that for round loaves. You do have to have some support under that pan, like a small cooky sheet, when you put the risen loaf into the oven. The 8X8 also allows the loaf to brown nicely on the bottom. Sometimes I will sprinkle the bottom with semolina or oatmeal, but I don't need to.

Anyone who has been used to baking bread in a "standard" metal loaf pan knows that no matter what the pan is coated with, eventually you have to grease the sides. In addition, eventually there will be scratches in the metal, deformations, and coatings that make cleaning the pan a misery. The Wentworth silicone loaf pan works very well. I have used the ones I bought for over six months. It's important to follow Wentworth's instructions and oil the inside of the pan before you use it the first time. I did that and have marveled at the way the pans consistently produce loaves that come out without sticking. My only gripe is with the size of the pan. It is definitely smaller than a "standard" metal bread pan so if you bake bread for sandwiches, be prepared to make smaller sandwiches. Sorry, Wentworth, but that cost you a star.

I bought three of these as I was getting supremely tired of my bread sticking to my old loaf pans no matter how well greased they were. I had tried using silicone bread pans in the past, but because I use a very wet dough (the no-kneading bread recipes from "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day" by Hertzberg and Francois) the loaves ended up very deformed looking. The supports on the outside of the pans keep the sides from bulging out very nicely. Yes, it does mean that the loaves are a little narrower than standard loaves of bread, but that's not a very big issue. The bread never sticks to these pans, even when I forgot to grease them at all. And the wave shape on the bottom of the pan seemed to let enough steam build up to let the bread get a little crisper than it had been in my aluminum loaf pans.

I used it to bake banana bread. It is so easy to use and so easy to clean. Very nice buy.
