I purchased this as an exercise pad and for occasional camping use. As received the pad surface was a bit marred though not in a way that impairs its use. The pad surface is soft and it appears that it will be rather easily damaged. The Wenzel charcoal grey mat appears to be essentially the same product at a similar price (sometimes lower). The grey pad seems less likely to show the cosmetic marring if that is a concern to you. Just buy whichever color is lower priced at the moment unless you prefer the bright blue.
These mats are a good value at a price in the range of $8 to $10. Curiously the Amazon prices have fluctuated and gradually increased from $7 to about $20. Wenzel Closed Cell Camp Pad (Charcoal Grey)

As camping goes, this mat is better than nothing, but it isn't that great. Made of foam (I think)it seems more like a yoga mat than anything else. I will give it a higher rating though because of 2 things: first, it is easy to roll and store, and second, it is easy to clean. I would say it is worth maybe half the price that I paid for it. You can get something much better for about $15-20 more.

Functional and priced right,

My son is in Cubs Scouts and I recently had to start stocking up on gear. I was spending a lot of money and wanted to save some here and there by getting this basic mat. For what it does it does well, but comfort is not high on it's list. They are thin and light, but if you have the money and are not worried about weight, buy a self-inflating mat. IF you are a backpacker and want to minimize the weight and sacrifice some comfort...this is definitly a great buy. Why the 3 stars, I am not looking at the weight factor yet.
