Great tent for the price,

This review is from: Wenzel Big Piney 2 Room 16 x 8-Foot Family Tent (Sports)
I bought this tent for Spring Vacation for the children and I.
I did not set this tent up before going on vacation to the coast in Oregon. Once we got to the campsite and I took it out of the box;the directions were easy and it was easy to set up, but I have set up tents before. There are 6 poles, 2 of which you really don't have to use if you don't want too as they just go for small flaps over doorway and in the back over window, I did not use them camping, but do now use them with the tent set up at home in the yard for the kids. In compairing size of the tent to the price with other tents, this tent is a very large tent for the money I paid. I am happy with it, I am happy with it and the extra room is great for putting everything in the tent you don't want to leave out when leaving camp for the day. It rained very hard the first night camping, the wind blew awful too. The tent comes with great stakes and metal rings on the corners not just rings sewed into the material itself. I really like that. At one point I thought the tent would blow away with us in it. It never did. It held fast using the system of directions they provided and that was amazing to me! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because it is not the quality of tent that more expensive tents are (ie zippers), but it is a great tent for the money. I would buy this tent again if I could still get it for the price I paid of alittle over $80.00 and it qualified for free shipping which was wonderful.

The tent was ordered on 4/29/08 and it arrived on 05/01/08 I assembled it when I got home in about 20 minutes alone by myself with little help from the directions. It has been about 25 years since my boy scout days since I've put up a tent and was very impressed with the ease of assembly. I did apply a seam sealer to the rain fly and windows/doors and such(which should be done on any tent no matter the brand or cost). I camped in it on Friday 05/02/08 and had a huge test for my new tent. During the night I had a severe thunderstorm that dumped about 2 1/2 inches of rain, 25-40 mph winds, horrific lightning and tornado watch all over middle Tenneessee all of this in a time frame of 2 hours. I naturally had a few very minor drips inside the tent and some water coming around the bottom of the door, but with that amount of water and wind I knew I would have some, but pleased with how it held up. The only thing I did not like was the open vents along the top of the tent. This will be great for ventilation when warm outside, but with its design a 35-40 degree night is gonna be a cold because of the open roof design.
The ease of assembly, the strength of structure once it is assembled, the appearance and the fact that there is enough room inside the tent for my small family and my 2 large Labs and my gear has made me happy with this purchase and I highly recommend this tent to anyone.

Leaks!!!,
This review is from: Wenzel Big Piney 2 Room 16 x 8-Foot Family Tent (Sports)
This tent is supposed to be water proof but I bought it for my birthday weekend and it only lightly rained and it seemed like nothing got wet until we packed up to go home and there were puddles of water under my air mattress that were coming from the corners of the tent....All four corners....
So I was pretty upset since it was brand new and that was my first use of it but I took it back to the store right away and got my money back for it so that was good.

This review is from: Wenzel Big Piney 2 Room 16 x 8-Foot Family Tent (Sports)
Easy to set up in seconds.
Does not leak water. Holds up in the rain and winds. Great Quality. My family loves it. If you are a new camper or experienced one this one is for you with lots of space. Great tent. Very easy to put up and lots of room for a family. Highly recomended. Good quality for BURNING MAN also. You will not be disappointed, if you get it for $100 or less a great deal!

Good Sized Tent for Move-Ability,

I got this tent for two people & it works wonderfully to get clothes bags, sleeping bags, extra room & whatever else you need to put in the tent. Great sun spots for during the day. Works well to add more people if camping with little ground room.

This tent is big enough for a family plus their belongings. I have 5 kids who are ages 4-11 and they, my wife and I had no problem fitting comfortably along with our clothes bags and bedding.
The tent was very simply to put up. Took about 15 minutes. When we went to bed, I didn't put the rain canopy on since we wanted to have the breeze and look at the stars. Then it started to rain around 3 am. It took less than 2 minutes to run out and put it on. The design was so practical and logical. No leaks, but it was a light rain so not really a true test. The construction was solid. Felt like quality. Nice color too. Very good looking tent and just the right size for a family or group. I would not want to cram my 7 in there when they're bigger. But it would fit 5-6 adults comfortably. . I would highly recommend. Really felt happy with my choice. I've been in a lot of tents and this was by far the best design and simplest to put up. Love it.

I bought this on sale through Amazon in the winter of 2006 for the low low price of $36.00. This tent has had my girlfriend and myself as well as 4 assorted nephews and friends of all ages sleeping in it without a worry over the last two years. For what I paid it was well worth it. I usually get a new tent every season and pass my old ones off to friends. I have kept this one however for the space and easy set up its huge on the inside and fits a queen size air mattress and 3 singles all at once. We take turns setting it up and try to beat each others time (We camp every weekend just outside of Chicago). My 5'3 girlfriend can put it together in less then 10 minutes by herself. It does have openings in a bit to many places for decent cold weather camping, but for car camping and short back country trips it cant be beat. Mind you we did camp in the snow with it but it gets a bit nippy trust me. Now for the leak issue. Listen if you have a tent out in the rain (heavy rain) for more then 4 hours its going to get a bit leaky. That doesn't mean you should wake up to a puddle underneath you. This tent has never leaked that bad and I have yet to treat it with any kind of sealer.Though it has leaked at some seams during continuous downpours. My advice is if you know your going to be in really crap weather just throw a plastic drop cloth from any dollar store over it to beat back the rain. Works for us.

Family Tent With Nice Dimensions,

We're just getting back into camping and this works for us. It takes about 15 minutes to assemble and about 25 minutes to fold up (hard to re-fit the bag). The design gives good room to move around in without appearing gigantic from the outside. It fits 2 queen air mats if necessary and opens up for warm summer nights. It only leaked tiny spots after several hours (a tarp works if you expect heavy stuff). I've even taken it to snowy mountains and fit three 6 foot guys with heavy backpacks and gear (impossible to stake down in frozen ground and was cold -10F). The fabric is decent, sewing is sub par in areas and the stakes are cheap but I couldn't expect more from a $70 tent.
