update: was able to accommodate the twin size Coleman 4 in 1 air mattress under the rear window. Stretched out, toes touch the sides, but comfortable.Read more ›
We took the tent for a camp out this week-end with me and my 2 sons. The tent held 3 comfortably, though next time, I'll put myself in the middle and the boys can have the sides next to the wall.
On the camp out, we endured a severe thunderstorm with some of the heaviest rains I can remember, high winds, and hail. We sloshed through 3/4 inch of water during the rain, despite being on an incline. We waited out the storm under a pavilion and watched as many people's tents blew down or collapsed under the heavy rain.
This little tent held up perfectly well. After the rain died down, I checked the tent and it was still standing strong and was mostly dry inside. My "mostly dry" I mean that the zipper and possibly the corner seams leaked VERY SLIGHTLY under the torrential rain. My sons and I brought in more water on our clothing than what had leaked in.
Overall, this tent outperformed my expectations.
Update: Survived 2 Storms
My son took this tent on a scouting trip to the beach. The weather did not treat them well as they faced constant heavy rain and 30-50MPH winds. My son said that "the wind turned it into a one-man tent" as he described how the tent was squished down due to the strong winds. The tent sprung back to normal shape as the wind died down, so no damage was done. Most of the other tents were broken or otherwise flattened and filled with water by mid-week when the troop abandoned camp and came home. This tent held up and stayed "mostly" dry. I remain impressed with this tent. It was a good purchase.
However...little did we know there would be freak weather that weekend. It snowed and rained, night temperatures were in the 30s, and the wind was horrific where we camped at the Salton Sea.
But the tent went up fast (I practiced setting up inside our large kitchen the night before), and kept me dry all night long. I didn't realize when I bought it that the top half of 2 of the 4 sides is mesh. However, the rain guard that comes with it covers these, and pulls in close when you set it up completely, and the tent remained dry and snug. If you need this tent for very cold weather, get something else. This tent is really meant for normal spring-summer-fall temperatures. It served its purpose very well for one very cold and rainy night but if I was going to camp in cold weather in the future I'd get a specialized tent for cold weather.
Overall the tent is great, especially for the price, and very easy to set up. The flooring that is part of the tent is strong but I also got a separate tarp for underneath, because I was worried about the ground being cold and or wet. I did get better stakes after the trip, because the night-long wind had caused them to be pulled out of the ground.
It was just me using the tent this time, but my husband and I both could fit in here together easily.
I'm very pleased with the purchase and have recommended this tent to others in the class who are looking for a new one.

The tent was missing parts, it seemed like a decent tent, however if even 1 piece is missing you can't use it, hard to repackage the tent, I would skip this one and find another.Published 2 months ago by Juan L. Jackson
