5.0 out of 5 stars Es ist nicht leicht ein Gott zu sein......, January 31, 2000
This review is from: Wer Bist Du (Audio CD)
Why I have taken SO long to write a review of this album is beyond me! Anyway, I first became introduced to MEGAHERZ a while ago. Anyone who is a fan of Rammstein will instantly fall in love with MEGAHERZ! Their sound is similar to Rammstein - but they are not clones. The music is hard (lots of guitar "crunch") with just enough keyboard/samples to give it an industrial feel. A lot of people discover MEGAHERZ through the song "Gott Sein" which is the lead-off track on this album. It can be found in several places on the WEB and is misidentified as belonging to Rammstein. I have been listening to "Wer Bist Du" constantly ever since I purchased it! The vocals are sung in German which I believe gives the music an added dimension and harder feel...

5.0 out of 5 stars This isn't Rammstein, and it DOESN'T NEED TO BE, October 3, 2001

"harmfulwave" (Fort Oglethorpe, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wer Bist Du (Audio CD)
This is the album featuring Megaherz's infamous "Gott Sein", the song so often mistaken as Rammstein's work. While the similarities between this song and so much of Rammstein's work are obvious, the discriminating metal fan will recognize that Megaherz is a triumph in their own right.

"Wer Bist Du" has a much cleaner sound than Rammstein. They are certainly more guitar-oriented than R+, with lots of nice crunchy metal sounds. The most important difference is lyrical.

Rammstein traditionally sings songs of love, even if they are as twisted as "Weisses Fleisch" and "Heirate Mich". "Wer Bist Du" features a collection of very, very well written lyrics which address deeper questions of self-identity and self-assertion. I've been listening to this album's powerful "Schlag Zurück" ("Fight Back") almost constantly since discovering Megaherz.

The music is good enough for *any* metal fan to appreciate, whether or not they know German. German speakers (and those who can be bothered with translations) have the added bonus of wonderful lyrics. There are a plethora of reasons to buy this album, and a passing similarity to Rammstein isn't one of the bigger ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars What music in America *should* be, September 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Wer Bist Du (Audio CD)
Hard, heavy-hitting German technometal with a touch of Prodigy et al. thrown in. This is one of the best CDs I've heard in recent memory.

The CD is entirely in German, which may throw some people off - but being German-speaking is by no means a prerequisite to enjoy this music. From the beginning to the end, this CD rocks!

There is one exception, that being track 9, Mude. While it is a decent song in its own right, it is woefully out of place on this album. Mude, in German, means "tired", and the chorus is "Ich bin mude" (I am tired) over and over again, to the point of both sounding whiny and being rather annoying.

Music in America should be like this CD - devoid of marketing and the desires of record company execs who have no idea whatsoever about *real* music - just what they can foist on an unsuspecting, unsophisticated American public.

Buy this CD. Buy three. Buy thirty-three. You will NOT be disappointed!
