Es ist nicht leicht ein Gott zu sein......,
By
This review is from: Wer Bist Du (Audio CD)
Why I have taken SO long to write a review of this album is beyond me! Anyway, I first became introduced to MEGAHERZ a while ago. Anyone who is a fan of Rammstein will instantly fall in love with MEGAHERZ! Their sound is similar to Rammstein - but they are not clones. The music is hard (lots of guitar "crunch") with just enough keyboard/samples to give it an industrial feel. A lot of people discover MEGAHERZ through the song "Gott Sein" which is the lead-off track on this album. It can be found in several places on the WEB and is misidentified as belonging to Rammstein. I have been listening to "Wer Bist Du" constantly ever since I purchased it! The vocals are sung in German which I believe gives the music an added dimension and harder feel...

This isn't Rammstein, and it DOESN'T NEED TO BE,

This is the album featuring Megaherz's infamous "Gott Sein", the song so often mistaken as Rammstein's work. While the similarities between this song and so much of Rammstein's work are obvious, the discriminating metal fan will recognize that Megaherz is a triumph in their own right."Wer Bist Du" has a much cleaner sound than Rammstein. They are certainly more guitar-oriented than R+, with lots of nice crunchy metal sounds. The most important difference is lyrical. Rammstein traditionally sings songs of love, even if they are as twisted as "Weisses Fleisch" and "Heirate Mich". "Wer Bist Du" features a collection of very, very well written lyrics which address deeper questions of self-identity and self-assertion. I've been listening to this album's powerful "Schlag Zurück" ("Fight Back") almost constantly since discovering Megaherz. The music is good enough for *any* metal fan to appreciate, whether or not they know German. German speakers (and those who can be bothered with translations) have the added bonus of wonderful lyrics. There are a plethora of reasons to buy this album, and a passing similarity to Rammstein isn't one of the bigger ones.

What music in America *should* be,
By A Customer
This review is from: Wer Bist Du (Audio CD)
Hard, heavy-hitting German technometal with a touch of Prodigy et al. thrown in. This is one of the best CDs I've heard in recent memory. The CD is entirely in German, which may throw some people off - but being German-speaking is by no means a prerequisite to enjoy this music. From the beginning to the end, this CD rocks! There is one exception, that being track 9, Mude. While it is a decent song in its own right, it is woefully out of place on this album. Mude, in German, means "tired", and the chorus is "Ich bin mude" (I am tired) over and over again, to the point of both sounding whiny and being rather annoying. Music in America should be like this CD - devoid of marketing and the desires of record company execs who have no idea whatsoever about *real* music - just what they can foist on an unsuspecting, unsophisticated American public. Buy this CD. Buy three. Buy thirty-three. You will NOT be disappointed!

not all german music is rammstein,

First off, I am not "bashing" Megaherz in this review- their music is good. I own all of their released albums. By far, their best is "kopfschuss", and I recommend you purchase it first. There style is consistent, but the intensity changes from album to album. Many reviews I have read regarding Megaherz relate them to Rammstein- which hurts my feelings. Just because the lyrics are in german does not mean these two bands have anything else in common. That would be like comparing STP to Ministry. Rammstein is heavily immersed in mixage and electronica, while Megaherz is more your traditional 4-piece rock band. they have a mellower sound, and lighter lyrics (rammstein has some truly evil themes). If you like german hardcore, I recommend a band called "Schweisser". as a devout rammstein fan, i find this a little more to my liking than Megaherz.

Die "Neue Deutsche Härte" - The "New German Hardrock",

Megaherz, a German band from Bavaria, has gained a positive reputation in Europe - often compared to the big "R" - RAMMSTEIN.However, both the lyrics and melody are more refined - placing them more into the spectrum of the ONKELZ. The album is a must for lovers of teutonic techno-metal. WER BIST DU is simply solid and all the selections are carefully recorded. I have to concur with one reviewer who stated that MEGAHERZ is everything music in America *should* be. If you like hard-hitting metal don't pass up this CD. WER BIST DU is a headbanger's dream...

This album has only one crappy track, and that's a remix of the title track (Wer Bist Du). Otherwise, every song is a triumph. The lyricist is first-rate. There's a hint of hip-hop (which I would normally consider a negative) but Megaherz has succeeded in convincing me that it can be done well. Crunchy but melodic. Also contains a remake of a traditional childs poem. (Hänschenklein). All told, enough to make me order their other albums, and hope for more. I won't promise you'll like Megaherz if you like Ramms+ein, but they're damn good!

This is the first (and GREAT) CD from the band. It is interesting to see how they have progressed from CD to CD, although they have always kept the core the same.I recommend this to anyone who like rock music!

This is my first review, which this Megaherz CD has inspired me to write. When I first heard of this German band, I thought they were some kind of industrial/metal band, but I decided to purchase the CDs anyway. Well, when I received them I was more than pleasantly surprised; song after song had me. I was rocking along with every single one. I'd say they are close to Rammstein's kind of Musik, but not the same style. Rammstein is more industrial/metal while Megaherz is more techno/metal (more metal than techno). I really enjoy their music and will recommend, you the reader, to purchase all of their CDs. I will be buying more in the future and I will be letting all my friends know about this band. They rock! They rocked me! They WILL rock you! I wish I could give 6 stars for this CD.

You will love this if you like Rammstein! Only in German, however it's authentic though. Didn't know much about Megaherz and now it's one of my favorite...

Not Bad,

First reaction to hearing this album was that it is a bit repetitcious both musically and lyrically. After playing it a few times I like it more, enought so, that I ordered another one of their albums. They have promise, and I hope the band will continue to advance in their skills.
