Editorial Reviews

In a truncated recording career (he was only 38 when he died in 1951, a victim of too much wine, women & boogie), Cecil packed in powerful ballads, hard, witty blues, driving boogies, & even embryonic R&R - check out the title track, 'We're Gonna Rock'. All are well represented here, with the emphasis on his infectious mid-tempo, rockin', & boogie material. 50 tracks on 2 CDs.

When Cecil Gant came out of the army after WW2" he recorded " I wonder" which became a big hit. Cecil Gant is a fine pianist who played Boogie Woogie with the best of them. These 2 cds show Cecil Gant playing Boogie Woogie and early R and B.dduring the late forties and early fifties. He would never again make a record as popular as " I wonder".
