"Romantic and real, practical and inspiring, Rob Harris has struck a nerve with his helpful book. . . .If you're on a caregiving mission or if you just need to come face to face with humanity at its best, this book is for you."
~Leeza Gibbons, TV host and founder, Leeza's Place: A Place for Family Caregivers

"I am so impressed with this book! ...This would be a valuable addition to medical school and nursing school curriculum, serving as a trigger to help health professionals, patients, and caregivers alike understand what person-centered care really means."
~Michael Fisch, MD, chair, Department of General Oncology, MD Anderson Cancer Center

"A passionate and heart-wrenching page-turner that eloquently captures the joys and frustrations of becoming a caregiver. An absolute must-read for anyone with loved ones fighting for their lives."

About the Author

Rob Harris is an accredited Human Resources professional (SPHR). In that position, he assists corporate executives and employees with strategic and day-to-day human resources needs.

More importantly, Rob is a caregiver to his wife, a two-time cancer survivor (Lymphoma, Sarcoma). The experience of caring for her over the years has enriched his life beyond what he could ever have imagined. Rob blogs about caregiving at his website. He is also a regular contributor to the American Cancer Society's website and Leeza Gibbons' blog, as well as a guest blogger on many other websites.

He's a widely recognized expert on caregiving and has been interviewed on radio, video, and in well-known print and digital publications. Rob's second book, We're In This Together: A Caregiver's Guide, is in production.

Although he will always consider Maryland home, Rob and his wife have resided in Orlando, FL for many years. They are the proud parents of two sons, both officers in the US Army, with one currently serving in Afghanistan.

More About the Author

My name is Rob Harris. Like most people, I very unexpectedly became an at-home caregiver when my wife was first diagnosed with cancer. Since then, I have been an at-home caregiver since 1990. After providing two decades of caregiving, I decided to share my experiences. I wanted other frightened and confused caregivers to know they had a friend they could turn to for caregiver support and advice. There are so many in need of in-home caregiving assistance from family caregivers. My goal, through my writing and working closely with caregivers and health-care professionals, is to provide support for patients suffering from dementia, Alzheimer's, Muscular Dystrophy, cancer, or any other illnesses or injuries in which a family caregiver is needed.

I am a physician and caregiver. I can say that this book should be read by any healthcare provider and any caregiver. It is easily readable, conveys compassion, and delivers extremely useful information. We will all be caregivers at some time in our lives. we many times do not expect it. This book therefore, can be read at different times on different levels. It may be read casually as an education of the healthcare system, or at a time of real need as a reference. It will make you laugh and cry. It will make you grateful for many compassionate healthcare providers, yet angry and frustrated with others. It is, in essence, therefore a book about the human spirit. You won't be sorry and will suggest its reading to others.

An amazing, brave, honest and heart rending story. Having been a Carer and also a Cancer Patient in the last few years I could easily relate to this brilliantly written story. Its is hopeful and positive and I think anyone would benefit from the experiences that Rob so eloquently expresses in this book.

What a wonderful true to life story of one caregivers journey. More than a story, it is filled with pragmatic tips and help for anyone who is thrust into the role as caregiver. My wife and I formed The CareGiver Partnership after we learned first hand how frustrating, frantic and frazzled we became after helping to care for her father. That's why we plan to get the word out on our caregiver blog and offer free copies to our readers. Everyone is either a caregiver or will be one day.

Its tough to put down "We're In This Together: A Caregiver's Story by Rob Harris". I was sad when I finished reading it. The writing style is engaging and I felt like I had a front row seat throughout this journey. Rob, who I've known for a short time has a marvelous narrative writing style.

What a wonderful story of strength, courage, commitment , and love. Rob and Cindy Harris have allowed us into their very personal life. Rob has shared with his readers a look at his life as a first time caregiver and Cindy has allowed Rob to opened our eyes to our worst nightmare; cancer. Reading this book has given me a new perspective into the life of caregivers, the challenges they face on a daily basis.

If you or anyone you know is a caregiver, this book is a MUST read. The Caregiver Tips are full of helpful clues to keep the Caregiver and Patient safe, and sane.

If you are looking for a Love story, this book is a MUST read.

**** If you think you know the true meaning of "Live, Laugh, Love" then you HAVE read this book. ****

This is a book written from the heart by a man who saw his wife through not one, but two bouts of cancer successfully. The story of their love and devotion to one another is intermingled with practical, "from the trenches" advice. This is a must read for any caregiver, new or old.

A courageous story of love and determination to beat the cancer that attacked the author's wife--told from the author's vantage point as husband and caregiver. Each chapter contains helpful pieces of advice on how to deal with doctors, hospitals, family and well-meaning friends. I thought this book so helpful, I purchased another copy and sent it to a friend who has become the caregiver in her family.

This is a modern day love story and page turner all wrapped up in pink ribbons of adoration and cancer. The title of Rob Harris' book says it all, We're In This Together. While many people run from health trauma, Rob runs to it, and proves that true love survives all adversity. This book captures the trials and tribulations of growing from working husband and family man to full-time caregiver and Superman. Yes, he really does save the day, and his wife's life. It is a coming-of-age story many Baby Boomers will experience in the near future, making it a must read. The 70 Caregiver Tips is a God-send to anyone in health crisis. Rob's story shows how illness affects the whole family, but love conquers all.
