Dee Snider described this song best when he called it part Sex Pistol and part Slade. 'We're Not Gonna Take It' is a powerful anthem thats humorous and angry.

Had a rough day at work, school, or with the family? Here's a fun antidote for the young at heart of all ages. Although it seems to be an angry song of defiance, it's actually fairly upbeat. It says: OK,we're upset, but we still have our power and energy and will express it. This mp3 sounds great and seems to be the original studio version. Dee Snyder performed it live on "America's Got Talent" and rocked the place. It might be worthwhile to search out a longer live version also.

One of the great metal/hair bands of the 1980's Twisted Sister was picked on by Tipper Gore's decency committee that was probably surprised when an articulate Dee Snyder showed up to testify on Capitol Hill about the importance of freedom of speech in the arts.
The subject of the unsuccessful congressional bullying? Twisted sister's one song to go main stream "We're not Gonna Take It!" an anthem not only to teen rebellion but for people everywhere who want to stand up and shake things loose, who are people who are, as other generations said were "Mad as Hell and not going to take it any more" or "you can take this job and shove it."
I'm not a metal head. I have a couple of songs, but this one, this is the star. The thing to be played loud and proud, and when some group tries to knock you into a cubby hole, you've already go the answer for them.

You cannot choose your children's music preferences!
Enough said in the title for my review. Not my choice, but that of my 7 year old. I think she considered this her pre-teen defiance theme song!
