5.0 out of 5 stars Were It Not For Grace, April 5, 2005
Were It Not For Grace is a powerful book featuring First Lady Laura Bush, Condoleezza Rice, Beth More, Kay Coles James, Joyce Wright, Leslie Parrott, Joni Eareckson-Tada, Kathy Gallagher, Jill Briscoe, Joyce Penner, Nancy Alcorn, and Anne Paulk.

The author gives an entire chapter highlighting each woman and a difficult circumstance they have overcome through their faith. Issues addressed include; Accidently killing someone in a car accident, the death of one's parents, prejudice, death of a child, giving birth to a preemie, depression/suicide, sexual abuse, when your mate has a pornography/sex addiction, living with a man in full-time ministry, sexual dysfunction, eating disorder, and lesbianism.

There are very few women who could not pick up this book and find stregnth within it's pages for her personal life. The most powerful story is Condoleezza Rice's where she states emphatically that

5.0 out of 5 stars Were It Not For Grace, April 21, 2005
By Jody Arlene "Jody" (Marina, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Reading each of the stories in this book touched me in some way. I could relate to a lot of what the women felt or thought, regardless of whether I had experienced their particular struggle or pain in my own life. Their strength both amazed and inspired me.

As a woman pursuing, for the first time in my life, a relationship with God, this book has had a profound impact on me. I enjoyed it very much, and it brought out many different emotions, and definitely engaged me, which, to me, is a sign of a wonderful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Book - Couldn't Put It Down!, July 16, 2005
By Laura at Generals (Laura at Generals) - See all my reviews
I met author Leslie Montgomery at the CBA/International Christian Bookseller's Convention where she was signing copies of the book. I got in line because I like collecting autographed books by authors. I had no idea the treasure I'd found. I put the book in my purse so on the flight back to Miami I'd have something to read - I couldn't put the book down; I cried so much as I read the story about the couple who lost their son Matthew, but I was encouraged by their faith in God. I lost my son two years ago. I know what it is like. Thank you for sharing your story and thank the author for writing it down. I'm buying copies for my book store immediately. I highly reccomend this book to anyone going through a hard time. I pray that the author keeps writing books like this. Thanks.
