Been a fan of these guys for years. Each album (including independent releases) only got better until now. I like this CD a lot but not too sure it holds up to South Of Sideways. Maybe given a bit of time - I'll think differently. Of the 10 tracks - there are 5 killer ones. If you're a fan - get the CD. If you're just discovering these guys - try South Of Sideways in addition to this CD...
PS - Edgewater ALWAYS puts on one helluva live show!

I wish there was a couple more hard rockers and I really just couldn't get into "Caught In The Moment" at all, it's the worst song on the cd. But then songs like 'Apples and Oranges', the remake of 'Engage' and 'Rock Is Dead' make this a hard-rock cd to beat. Not great the whole way through but definitely has it's moments, check it out..

Edgewater Aren't Giving Up Yet.,

Edgewater's story is not one we haven't heard before. Little known rock band gets signed by major label, gets one single with moderate radio-play and a spot on a high profile soundtrack. The album fails to live up to the successes of it's peers, and the label forgets them like yesterday's news. Edgewater's triumphant follow-up to 2004's "South Of Sideways" is a biting 10-track album focused mainly on trashing the record business and the band is all the better for it. Sounding bolder than they did before, Edgewater spew their venom with focus and treat their frustrations and anger as a blessing. Despite the corny album title and theme, "We're Not Robots," the message is heard loud and clear.
Sounds Like: A band with a little more confidence. The Good: - They didn't give up where most bands would have faded. - The style on the album doesn't veer far enough from the past to alienate fans. The Bad: - The production is a bit muddy. - There are only 10 songs, adding up to just over a half-hour (what's with bands skimping on material these days?) - The whole band vs. music industry cliche gets old midway through the album Hits: "Get It Right" and "S.O.S." would be radio-hits given the chance. Future: Edgewater seem bound and determined to stay in this business, despite low record sales. I don't see "We're Not Robots" being a massive hit, but it sure is a solid album that will win over anyone willing to listen. Personally: I find this album to be more focused, even a bit more streamlined than "South Of Sideways." It's an easy listen, just a fun hard-rock album to pop in at any given moment. Best Listened To When: Your record label drops you.

Edgewater is one of those bands who have extraordinary musicians who just can't seem to breakthrough and become fully mainstream. When South of Sideways came out I bought their CD based on their first single "Eyes Wired Shut" and I've absolutely loved them since. This album is a logical progression from South of Sideways touching on both the lightest and heavist spectrums that they showed us on their first album. Its my view that Matt Moseman is one of the best singers in rock and roll, and the rest of the musicians in the band are equally as talented. This album is far more emotional than the first, which is why I really fell for it. Buy it now.

Although I found edgewater's first album, south of sideways, to be very boring and uninspired, my curious nature got the best of me and I had to hear We're Not Robots. The first thing I noticed was that everything seemed more focused. All the songs had a very formulaic structure, which certainly isn't a bad thing in rock music. Where South Of Sideways struggled to keep the listeners attention, We're Not Robots makes up for ten-fold, with urgent vocals and big sing-a-long chorus'. A year ago I would have told you that Edgewater were a boring and immature group of musicians, but after listening to We're Not Robots, I've changed my mind.
Some people have compared the style on Robots to that of an early Linkin Park. I say, what's wrong with that? Linkin Park have put out some of the most solid records in the rock music world. In any case, though, it'd be hard to draw much comparison to Linkin Park, aside from some well placed digital tracks and dreamy chorus'. Recommended.

Wow is all I have to say about the second Egdewater release. My buddy introduced me to this band a few years back and I was like ehh these guys are just like seether, shinedown and all the other generic rock bands out there, nothing really stuck out at all to me. This album has it all, heavier guitar riffs, better drumming and the singer throws in some screams which really bring the emotions of the songs out and that is what made me fall in love with this cd. I am a huge fan of metalcore bands and screamo so this music is just a way to keep my roomate and others happy when they come over so I know they can at least listen to the music and not complain and this cd will definetly be a hit for awhile on the stereo. I had many people ask me at our parties who this band was and after showing them they bought it and love it just like me!!!

It's too bad..,

I waited for Edgewater's sophomore debut with baited breath! I really thought they could top the wonderful mixture of songs on "South of Sideways"....didn't happen. I have to say I was really disappointed with this album.
At least in the first album the music flowed right along with the clear-as-a-bell lyrics, this album is full of screaming and herky-jerky riffs. It's almost as if they couldn't decide what sound they wanted, every song is a jumbled mess of chords. The album sounded like a mixture of Linkin Park and Jet. It's too bad, I hope their third offering is better.
