If you had a love-potion, who would you make fall madly in love with you? Timothy, prone to escaping his dismal high school reality through dazzling musical daydreams, gets to answer that question in a very real way. After his eccentric teacher casts him as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, he stumbles upon a recipe hidden within the script to create the play’s magical, purple love-pansy. Armed with the pansy, Timothy’s fading spirit soars as he puckishly imposes a new reality by turning much of his narrow-minded town gay, beginning with the rugby-jock of his dreams. The course of true love never did run smooth, but by the end of director Tom Gustafson’s moving musical comedy of errors, the bumpy ride comes to a heartfelt conclusion. With vibrant imagery, a first-rate ensemble cast, and innovative music rivaling the best of pop/rock and contemporary Broadway, Were the World Mine attempts to push modern gay cinema and musical film beyond expectation. After playing numerous prestigious film festivals around the world, resulting in standing ovations and unparalleled acclaim from audiences and critics alike, Were the World Mine received its theatrical release in the fall of 2008. PS Classics’ soundtrack – featuring original music by Jessica Fogle and a score by Tim Sandusky – captures all the melody, magic and high spirits of the film the Hollywood Reporter called “a rousing, warm-hearted spectacle.”

Endearing and enchanting,

I left the movie theatre after seeing this show, and immediately went and bought this soundtrack. Gratefully, it is faithful collection of all the wonderful, inspiring numbers, not all soundtracks are this complete. There are even added incidental vocal elements.
Like the film, the soundtrack is captivating, and inspiring. Appropriate theme and notes repeated, threaded throughout. I cannot even begin to imagine the process of adding the lyrics to the score. Finding the bits and pieces of Shakespeare quotes from Midsummer Night's Dream, and assembling them all piecemeal to create rousing, stellar numbers is mind boggling. There is simply no way this work will get the attention it deserves. Tanner Cohen, Nathaniel David Becker, and Zelda Williams are all excellent, and Wendy Robie's voice stands out on every number she is in. Cohen especially is simply extraordinary, the star in fact, as well as billing, with a rich full. See this show; buy this soundtrack!

I saw this movie expecting to see a cheesy low-grade musical. I was absolutely pleasantly surprised to say the least. I had to watch it again, to really get the feel for it, and I still was left with a smile on my face. The cast is outstanding, and the vocal range of Tanner Cohen is amazing. A low-budget indie film, truly rivals high-budget movie/musical spectaculars. Not a lot of fancy special effects, yet it doesn't take away from the beautiful cinematography. I would absolutely recommend this movie to anyone who truly is interested in listening to beautiful vocal as well as instrumental arrangements. The cast is wonderful and truly fit their parts well. I'm gonna order the soundtrack right away. It is a feast for the eyes and the ears.

I'm not really the kind of person who buys movie soundtracks, but this one was a must-have for me. My copy of this movie arrived in the mail this morning and I watched it tonight. As soon as I finished it (watched the ending twice), I ran to the computer to get this soundtrack. It's really quite good - if you like the movie, you'll enjoy having the music.
