Wesley Morris finds himself in a juvenile detention center. He can't believe that his mom reported the car stolen, but it isn't like she hasn't been a thorn in his side for years. While he doesn't want to be locked up and told what to do, it's a drastic change from the hell he's been facing living with his drunken mother.
Keysha is back and the drama, rumors and impending court case have her literally on the edge. While she has been able to bridge the gap in her blended family, she's socially in hell as she tries hard to rid herself of the vicious lies being spread about her. If there was a `My Mom's Worse Than Your Mom' television program, surely Wesley and Keysha would tie for first prize. How likely is it to find two kids, whose moms are too self involved to care about their children's welfare? Even less likely, two fathers who willing pick up the slack and love, encourage and support their children freely. Can two outcasts find commonality as they try removing the shackles that have caused so much confusion into their young lives? IF I WERE YOUR BOYFRIEND is the sequel to KEYSHA'S DRAMA written by Earl Sewell. While the book is a quick read, that reminds readers on what happened in the past, the storyline, while very interesting at points, feels a little too much for this particular teen novel. IF I WERE YOUR BOYFRIEND places emphasis on self respect, self worth, trust, loyalty and love. I really enjoyed how the author made a point that teens and parents keep a direct line of communication open. I am looking forward to reading more about Keysha and the blast from her past real soon.

Mr. Sewell is by far one of the best writers I have come across. This story of girl and a boy finding their way through family issues and peer pressure and the love they receive from the people that mean the most to them is awesome! The way Mr. Sewell tells this story is nothing short of impeccable and how kids and teenagers can get over any obstacles life brings by love and support is great. You must read "Keysha's Drama" first though before you read this. This is a series. You will love it!
