Were wolves of London step aside., August 31, 2011
This review is from: Werewolves Among Us (Paperback)
Werewolves of London, step aside. Here comes the capo di tuti capi of all werewolves. This book written by retired NYPD Police Officer Martin A. Gonzalez [ 28 Pct.] will amaze you on how he takes you from the streets of Harlem to the quiet country side of Sullivan County, New York.
Mike Serrano is a New York City cop. He and his live-in fiancee, Lisa Santino, are also partners at the 28 Pct. During a 4-12 tour, shots are fired from within a car that Mike and Lisa stop for blowing a red light. Lisa is shot and killed, and Mike is wounded before he is able to shoot and kill the two perpetrators inside the car.
A year later, still haunted by his loss, Lisa's brother, Sgt. Phil Santino, who also works at the 28 Pct., attempts to convince Mike, to take a respite in a quite place in Upstate, New York. Mike calls his sister who is married to one of Mike's former partner, Marty Pietri, to see if he can stay with them. They welcome him with open arms and love.
During this time there is a report of a man that had just been attacked by an animal near his trailer by the edge of the woods. Mike inadvertently becomes involved in the case. A case where Mike meets an intriguing, young, beautiful woman with a deep secrete of her own.
I will end here by saying, for a New York City cop who writes a novel about a cop that loses his fiancee to the war on the mean streets of New York City, and then takes the story to a supernatural level, he succeeds in making the unreal, real. I enjoyed the read and think you will, too.
