First off, don't expect to get much material and it requires a copy of Werewolves of Millers Hollow to play. You get a 2"x2"x1" box with:
#a small deck of cards
#a 2"x2" sticker sheet with 5 stickers
#an instruction manual

Thats it. It's pretty underwhelming particularly with the amount you spend on it.

What it adds to the game is a lot though. You get 5 new characters, a deck of cards that can really change the rules either permanently or for a single day/night/cycle.

Characters: The 5 stickers are placed on regular villager cards that add 5 new roles. Its not the prettiest solution-- I would have just preferred more player cards, but it works. The Piper is pretty uninteresting and we rarely play with him but I like the Elder, the Defender, the Village Idiot and Scapegoat. It's nice to simply have more roles because few people like to be regular villagers every time. The Piper tries to mesmerize everyone. The guardian gets to protect one person each turn (but never the same person twice in a row), the elder can survive two wolf attacks, the Village Idiot is protected from being killed by the village but cannot vote/argue. The Scapegoat controls who votes but is more likely to be killed by vote. It adds new dynamics and is interesting if you have grown bored of the original roles. Otherwise, its hard to justify the purchase.

Cards: The cards provide an interesting twist that can be interesting but sometimes makes the games go long. The cards all modify at least one turn and some are permanent modifiers. All in all they are well done and interesting and will add variety-- again, very cool if the original game has gotten stale but not worth it otherwise.

Rules: They provide a list of new rule variations.

Almost everytime we have extended family or young adult friends at our house, we play this game. The expansion pack provides some interesting twists to keep the game exciting. You may pick and choose which cards you would like to add depending on the number of people, the age, or experience of players. We play this game combined with ages from 7 up to 82.

Loved the first game. This "expansion" actually converts villager cards from the first game into 5 "special" characters. There are NO new villager cards, so you can't play the game with more than 23 people (box says 18), despite it being an "expansion". I would call it a conversion pack. This really messes up the ratio of villagers to special characters. After the expansion, you wind up with 8 villagers as opposed to 13 and approximately 15 special characters. You can't really convert a villager back unless you pull the stickers off and ruin them. The stickers are the root of all problems with the expansion. I really wanted to give the review a 5 star because I love the first game so much. But the game expansion includes just 5 stickers to place on the first game's villager cards. You are buying stickers. And some new cards for the narrator to read. That's it. With a little imagination you could think up (or just use the internet to find) your own new characters for the game. You could probably even think up your own special way to mark the cards to let people know about the new characters (hint, hint: stickers). I love supporting new games but it's hard to imagine that printing off 13 new cards and 5 new villains would have driven up the cost so much as to prevent them from releasing the game at all. If the main reason they added the stickers to be placed on the old cards was to keep the ratio of villagers to special people acceptable, then they should have just included the stickers in the first game instead of thinking they had enough material for two separate game sales.

My 12-year-old daughter played this at school as a Friday afternoon reward and couldn't stop raving about it. We bought it and my teenagers have played it at parties and had a great time. We've also played it with extended family, and it is really fun. It is not hard to learn, and easy for adults and children to play together. Just make sure you have a good strong "narrator" for the first couple of rounds.

Get the bigger version of this or it's parent game, WEREWOLVES. (This would work for travel use). The bigger, more expensive version in WEREWOLVES is key in group enjoyment. The larger sized cards have shapes and some are used for props. (Check it ou)t. The bigger version should appear as earlier choices, on Amazon....one does not know that the tiny version is less fun....when ordering.

If you loved the original Werewolves then also get this, specialy for the new roles, down side they got cheap with the role cards, these are stickers you place an the original Werewolves role cards, so it's not a very impresive art product.
