This is a very sturdy 2 foot step.. Much better than the aluminum version they sell at the home center.. I weigh 245 lbs and feel comfortable gettin on it.. Would buy anouther one.

Had a defect on foot when I got it. Werner sent me a new one. I fixed the first one and now I have two great ladders. I am a contractor and been using werner for many years with no complaint.

Exactly as described, fully assembled and functional. Useful in the garden and around the home for reaching up. Unless your balance is very good, helps to have something to lean against, when on the top step. We
use it in the garden to prune our fruit trees, and inside to reach items
on a high shelf

I'm a 290 pound truck driver and I'm required to climb into and out of my truck's trailer twenty or more times each shift. Most drivers ninja their way up into the trailer by grabbing onto the handles (if they're not missing) and stepping onto the tires. I'm not a ninja so I decided to do what any sensible fat man would do and buy a ladder instead. I will often recklessly throw this ladder into the trailer, onto the ground, and have had stacks of pallets fall onto it and it's still working great. I've also used this ladder on ice and snow and with wet boots and I've never once felt like I was going to lose traction on the steps or that the ladder was going to slide on the ground.

This is the first ladder I've ever owned and I'll never buy another brand.

For the price, I am very happy with this ladder. It is exactly what I was looking for ; something light and sturdy. The 250 pound rating is what I need for me and anything I will be carrying on the ladder coming up/down from the attic. It is easy to carry and surprisingly light for its size. FedEx delivered the ladder in two days with prime shipping. Since I don't have an SUV or truck, this was a great option as I did not have to find a way to get it home from a big box store.

I looked at a lot of reviews, and in the stores, and decided on this Werner ladder. I needed it to be tall enough to reach my gutters. The ladder is very sturdy and i am very pleased with it. I do a lot of painting and this has the place for paint pails and other things you need when working. It is also safe it you are working around electricity. I would recommend it.I also like the fact that it was brought right to my door.

I have had the Werner 6008 8-foot ladder for about 2 years, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. The ladder is not very light - probably about 40 lbs - so my wife has a hard time moving it around, however short of using exclusively carbon fiber I am not sure how you could make a "lighter" 250-lb duty ladder.

If you are debating between ladder sizes, I would recommend giving serious consideration to an 8-footer. Larger 10' ladders are almost useless indoors unless you have extra high ceilings, but a standard 6' ladder leaves a lot to be desired if you are working outside. The compromise is an 8' and while it is a little ungainly when used indoors but its extra reach sure does in handy when hanging Christmas lights!

As for the performance of the Werner 6008 -

+ Never had an issue with it slipping
+ I walked under it once without *too* much bad luck - just kidding
+ Easy to set-up the support arms have never gotten stuck when trying to open or close the ladder
+ When opened the base has about a 4' spread which helps to make the ladder feel especially stable
+ The top rung/ platform of the ladder has an in-cut that will safely hold a bucket of paint

Areas for improvement

- As I mentioned it is a bit heavy - most women will have a hard time controlling the ladder when trying to set it up.


Final verdict - Buy with confidence

The ladder is high-quality, sturdy and just what I wanted to replace my shaky, old wooden one but Amazon packaged it in a high-density plastic bag that was taped to conform to the ladder's shape. Unfortunately, it had been cut or ripped and one of the bottom feet damaged. The mediocre rating reflects the damage, rather than the ladder itself.
