I purchased the Werner AC18MT "ALUMINUM STANDING PLATFORM" to go with my Werner MT-17 ladder, a very well constructed, very versatile and safe Multi Ladder. Amazon's image of the Werner AC18MT shows the correct product, however it is made of thick Aluminum (not steel) and is primarily designed as a hands-free stable standing platform (but could be used as a working tool\paint tray?...AC24 is actually better suited for this!).

Well, I find this Werner platform accessory to equal all of the positive qualities of the MT-17 ladder (see my review), becoming a very nice and useful feature to the stepladder functions. It sets up on the ladder in 2 seconds, retracts out of the way quickly for ascending, pulls back very easily in place with your foot, then becomes a ROCK SOLID, 300# rated, 12" Square, Slip Resistant, Horizontal Platform that gives me greater Balance and Stability while performing my task! When done, just reverse the setup actions and store it inside the closed ladder (hangs from 3rd rung from top).

The AC18MT provides me greater comfort and better standing balance than just working from the ladder rungs. I can work freely with both hands, suffer less leg fatigue and manage longer periods of time working up high. I find it invaluable and a must have purchase that compliments the MT-17 Extremely Well. I don't do projects without it!!!

There are many companies improperly listing this product. The product listed here is not AC-18. It is AC-18MT. See the technical details above.

AC-18 MT is a step only. It is not a 3-way anything. That is what is in the picture.

The AC-18 is the 3-Way Tray Tool Tray, Comfort Step or Paint Tray. It is hard to find. I am not sure if they make them anymore.

Duffer. "Bo" you should return your AC-18 MT and I will sell you an AC-18 for the same price. I will list it on Ebay.

Both steps are great. No plastic Junk. All aluminun.

This tray was purchased for a new MT13 ladder. Although it does provide a very sturdy step, it cannot be used as described with the MT13 in standard stepladder configuration. The step is supposed to fold away while you climb the ladder and then be opened with your foot. In order to descend, the reverse process is needed. The problem is that you are directed to step up to the next highest rung in order to fold/unfold the stand behind you. However, the MT13 in standard stepladder configuration does not have a higher step.

We are getting around this by using a small step stool placed next to the MT13 to gain access to the step, but are unable to use the fold/unfold option. The step is far safer and more comfortable than standing on the normal ladder rung. However, think twice before purchasing this for the MT13 ladder.
