4.0 out of 5 stars A Really Sturdy, Serious Ladder
If you are like me and want a long ladder that can get you anywhere you need to go on your house with security, this one does the trick. It's rugged and heavy, so you may want to have a helper for positioning it. This ladder should last you for a very long time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Werner Ladders
Very much cheaper price for the 10 foot werner ladder (D1510) at other websites.
Too expensive price at Amazon for this specific ladder. Don't know why.

One of the difficulties of purchasing a ladder like this lies in getting it home. Amazon makes that aspect easy. I placed my order and a few days later I had the ladder in my garage ready for use.

Speaking of my garage, you may want to double check that your garage will accomodate this long ladder for storage and you also will need to get the heavy duty ladder hangers if you want to hang it up.

I am very happy with this ladder. It is well made and performs great. I beat the [crud] out of this thing day after day and it holds up. If this is the size ladder you need you can't go wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the lightest to handle, June 25, 2000
As a painter I have one of the Werner 40 footers and fortunately do not have to use it every day. It is a stable, secure ladder but is not the easiest to set up by oneself. Even though its a Type I ladder expect some flex when fully extended. If you need it you need it.

This review is from: Werner D1528-2 300-Pound Duty Rating Aluminum Flat D-Rung Extension Ladder, 28-Foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
I don't have much ladder experience, but when I bought a 2-storey house on the side of a hill I knew I was going to need something better than my 24', 225 pound ladder. I probably really need a 32'er, but I was intimidated when I looked at one, especially since I was going to be handling it mostly by myself. This 28'er turned out to be perfect, not too awkward to handle, but with a sturdy feel when you climb.

With my experience now, I would recommend the 300 lb rating to anybody who is going to be doing much work on a ladder. I'm only a buck seventy five, but I much prefer the heft and stability of this ladder when doing something up there that takes some exertion or reaching. I also have a hold-out bar and adjustable legs on this unit, so any fear of heights I had is about gone when I'm using it.

Surprisingly, even this ladder has a little bounce when maxxed out on the length, but if it's properly set up at least you feel secure while you're up there. Adjusting the height is a breeze, just stand it up and pull on the rope, with a nice, heavy KER-THUNK at each level. If you handle by yourself, it does take some strength in your rope hand, but you'll get the hang of it after a few times.

Very stable ladder.I'm 280lbs.Climbed this ladder 30ft and it felt like I was walking up stairs. It did't flex or budge at all. There was some one at the bottom supporting it.But be prepared for some lifting. The shipper stated 92lbs.It felt like 150lbs.The ladder works great you just need 2 strong people to get it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars 28-Foot Aluminum Extension Ladder, December 12, 2008

This review is from: Werner D1528-2 300-Pound Duty Rating Aluminum Flat D-Rung Extension Ladder, 28-Foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
(Added 06/26/09) I forgot to mention that when I received the ladder, it had a dent in one of the side rails. I placed the ladder on a flat surface, took a 1-1/4" pipe, placed it firmly against (and as squarely as possible) the dent and banged the other end with a short handled 5lb sledge hammer. Two hits and it was as good as new...

Very happy with this product. Sturdy but light enough to be handled by one person, but having a helper is always safer. I like the properties of aluminum - lighter and stiffer than steel. I checked out fiberglass equivalents at local home centers but found them too bulky and too heavy. Always look out for live wires as the metal is an excellent/dangerous conductor. Keep harsh detergents/alkalis away.

5.0 out of 5 stars confidence for high jobs, March 28, 2007

Ladder is quite well made and arrived promptly on a truck. Minor bent piece I didn't see when it came off the truck but no big deal. I have access to the highest parts of my chimney and gutters now so the purchase is a great investment. It looks well made for a lifetime of service. I added a stability bar so the rig won't twist while I am up high. The bar was also made by the same people as the ladder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Ladder, January 19, 2007

This is a good, solid ladder and I expect years of service from it. Amazon delivered it to our home and that saved a lot of trouble. My only reservation about the ladder--which does not reflect upon its quality--is that it is almost too heavy for me to handle alone (16 feet is a big lever arm).

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome ladder, but heavy!, December 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this ladder so that I could clean the gutters on my house. They are high, and a 40 footer is required. The ladder is of great quality, very sturdy. It is heavy, and a bit of a challenge to carry around by myself, much-less to stand up against the house. Once it is vertical, it is tricky to move around to lean over, and care must be taken not to loose control. If would really be best to have several guys to manhandle this ladder, and should not be attempted by one person. I did use this ladder to cut a neighbor's tree, and it was very handy to be able to climb way up to get access to the top of the tree. Did I ever clean the gutters? No. The ladder was plain too heavy for me to use it. However, the ladder does come apart in 2 sections, and they can be used individually a bit more easily.

So yes, it is a great ladder, and is an awesome choice if you need to get up 40 feet. But, if you don't need to go that high, a lighter smaller ladder would be a better choice.
