2.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to close & too heavy
Handsome stool, very sturdy and excellent foot base. I personally found it to be too heavy for my strength and almost impossible to close.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the right size, October 13, 2008
This review is from: Werner 223-6 StepRight 225-Pound Duty Rating Type II Step Stool Steel, 3-foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
After reading the reviews of more than a dozen step ladders, we selected this one because the third step makes a huge difference in reaching the top of our cabinets. The steps are slip-resistant, and wide enough that my 4 year old can sit on the top step and "cook" at the kitchen counter. I also like the locking feature - you can easily tell if you have properly set the stool up before you step on it. And it folds down (not quite as easily as I had thought it would) to take up minimal space when not in use. It is a very sturdy little ladder that I expect will last a very long time (we have had ours now for about 2 months).

1. very strong construction
2. large platforms feel non-slip
3. locks in open position and easily folds for storage
4. perfect height for reaching top of cabinets, hanging items on wall
5. I feel secure even when standing on top step.
6 rated for 225 lbs. which I am over and so far it is holding up well...but who knows I may be pressing my luck!
7. very good value, don't hesitate to buy if you need a step ladder/stool

5.0 out of 5 stars A great ladder, July 22, 2008
This review is from: Werner 223-6 StepRight 225-Pound Duty Rating Type II Step Stool Steel, 3-foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have had several different step ladders - I need them to reach higher cupboards in my kitchen and pantry - all the 3 step ladders were just too heavy - I bought this one hoping it would indeed be lightweight and easy to move around - 5 stars on both counts.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT FOR HIGH CABINETS, January 18, 2009

I purchased this step stool after I moved into an apartment that had very high kitchen cabinets. Plus, I needed something that could be stored out of the way. After reviewing the choices online, pricing models in stores, and reading the Amazon.com reviews, I chose this one. Great choice. The top step forms a wide standing surface and the handle adds to the feeling of stablility and balance. The locking lever on the top step provides an extra measure of safety by preventing collapse. As some reviewers have noted, the unit can be a little hard to close; however, a tap of your foot on the back legs, after releasing the lock, will easily fold it so that it stores flat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for what I need, January 28, 2009
This review is from: Werner 223-6 StepRight 225-Pound Duty Rating Type II Step Stool Steel, 3-foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
I just moved into a place where the kitchen has really tall shelves. This step stool is perfect for reaching all the top shelves. It's a little hard to click in and out of position, but once you get the hang of it, it works fine. I'm very pregnant at the moment and it's not too heavy. It's sturdy and I feel safe going all the way to the top step. I also like that it's slim enough to fit in between the fridge and the wall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, October 16, 2009

This review is from: Werner 223-6 StepRight 225-Pound Duty Rating Type II Step Stool Steel, 3-foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
I decided it was time to replace the two-step folding step stool that I bought in the 1970's (which has lately tried to kill me on several occasions) with something a little higher and a lot more stable. After spending a couple of days reviewing large step stools and small step ladders I decided to purchase this product. Turns out it was a very good decision. For an older guy like me who isn't as sure-footed as he used to be this stool with its wide, slip-resistant steps and bar to grab onto if needed is perfect. Yes, it's a wee bit heavier and taller than the two-step stool but that's a good thing because the wider base and little bit of extra weight make it that much more stable. If I had not read a previous reviewer's tip on how to fold it up after use I would have found it difficult to close BUT, as the other reviewer said, all you have to do is, after you lift up the locking bar, give the back legs a slight tap with your foot and it closes immediately and effortlessly. It's not a problem. It's a great product and Amazon shipped it very quickly.

Like this step stool very much. Sturdy, easy to carry with one hand, easy open and close and high enough to reach highest shelves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy but a Little Heavy, September 25, 2011
By
This review is from: Werner 223-6 StepRight 225-Pound Duty Rating Type II Step Stool Steel, 3-foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
What I really wanted to purchase was a light weight aluminum 3-step step stool with DEEP steps (7" or so) but none could be found. So, instead I settled on this step stool which is heavier (13 lbs.) but has the steps I wanted. Overall, I am very happy with it and would recommend it to others.

Pros: This ladder feels sturdy. It doesn't shift and move around the way some other step stools do when you're standing on them -- (and I tested many of them). It has a roomy top platform to work from. Price was good -- bought it in Lowes for $39.

Cons: A little heavy. Some stepstools can be folded up easy with one hand. However, this one requires the use of both hands and a little muscle. But, once you get a hang of it, it's really not a big deal. It is a small "inconvenience" to pay for having a step stool that feels "safe", in my opinion.

Here are some specs on the step stool, some of which may not have been posted on Amazon.

Height to top railing: 43"
Platform height: 27-1/2"
Dimensions of top platform: 14"W x 9-1/2"D
Depth of steps 1 and 2: 7-1/2" deep
Width: 17-1/2" wide
ANSI Rating: II (to 225 lbs)
Folded depth: 2"
Ladder depth when fully opened: 24"

This step stool is sturdy, reasonably lightweight and because it has 3 steps, it allows you to securely reach higher objects. It is the best step stool I have ever owned because it is both steady and tall.

I read every review on this stool before I bought it. Based on the reviews, I was worried that it would be heavy. NOT TO WORRY! It's great! This is a VERY stable stool. I would recommend it and buy it again.
