Product Description

You are about to download the Kindle ebook version of John Wesley's 'Notes on the Entire Bible',

Within this exhaustive commentary of the scriptures, John Wesley translated, interpreted, and applied every Biblical passage in depth. His New Testament Notes are official United Methodist Church doctrine. The Old Testament notes have been out of print for many years, and hard copy editions are very hard to find. Every preacher/teacher in the Wesleyan tradition should read Wesley's Notes before going to the pulpit. Whether you're scouring scripture, or just casually studying, you will find this commentary very insightful.

Here's a little history on John Wesley, including some tidbits of information maybe you didn't know! (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

John Wesley (June 17, 1703 – March 2, 1791) was an 18th-century Anglican clergyman and Christian theologian who was an early leader in the Methodist movement. This was the first widely successful evangelical movement in the United Kingdom. Wesley's Methodist Connexion included societies throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland before spreading to other parts of the English-speaking world and beyond. Methodists, under Wesley's direction, became leaders in many social justice issues of the day including prison reform and abolitionism movements.

Wesley's greatest strength as a theologian was in his ability to combine seemingly opposing theological views. Wesley was a logical thinker, and expressed himself clearly, concisely and forcefully in writing. His greatest theological achievement was his promotion of what he termed 'Christian perfection', or holiness of heart and life. Wesley insisted that in this life, the Christian could come to a state where the love of God, or perfect love, reigned supreme in one's heart.

Throughout his life, Wesley remained within the Church of England and insisted that his movement was well within the bounds of the Anglican Church. His maverick use of church policy put him at odds with many within the Church of England, though toward the end of his life he was widely respected.

Don't pass up this opportunity to obtain the Kindle Edition of this awesome Bible reference commentary! Original hardcopy editions of these works have sold for many times the cost of this download. You won't be disappointed!

2.0 out of 5 stars Wesley's Bible Notes With & Without Navigation, April 5, 2011
By
Kindle books without formatting or navigation are really frustrating, and defeats one of the best reasons for having a Kindle in the first place - ease of use. You can find the text of Wesley's notes (and the whole "Wesley's Journal and Sermons") at Christian Classics Ethereal Library (CCEL.org). Indexed and linked. You can download the plain text version for free.

1.0 out of 5 stars no table of contents or other navigational aids, July 14, 2009
This review is from: John Wesley's Notes on the Entire Bible (Kindle Edition)
Navigating this entire work for notes on a particular book or section of the Bible is nearly impossible since there are no navigational aids or table of contents. The formatting is also non-existent. The only way to access the content of this book is to read it from the beginning to the end. That would be fine for some books but not for a reference work on the Bible.

It is highly unlikely that the creator of this content tested this on a Kindle device or tried to use it themselves on this device. A complete waste of money which I'm going to attempt to recoup from the company. I also purchased another "Kindle" book from this same company and it suffers from the same problem.

I hate to bash a company - especially one putting out such a valuable resource but the product is so unusable that I can't recommend this in good conscience to anyone else.

4.0 out of 5 stars great content/ poorly laid out, December 27, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: John Wesley's Notes on the Entire Bible (Kindle Edition)
the only reason i didnt give this 5 stars is because there is no table of contents which makes it extremely difficult to navigate. With that said Wesleys notes are so profoundly good that it is worth the stuggle to get around. A little creativity with Kindle bookmarks and notes will help
