The trainer includes a blue-tinted LCD workout display.
The trainer also offers four personal trainer workouts to keep you fit. Each program was created by a certified personal trainer and was designed with heart health and weight loss in mind. And should you want to maximize your workout performance, you can turn to the dual-grip Easy Pulse heart rate monitor, which keeps you in the right training zone to meet your goals.

Other features include a blue-tinted LCD workout display that tracks your speed, time, distance, calories burned, and pulse as you exercise; an 18-inch stride length that encourages you to take longer strides and develop longer, leaner muscles; and oversized foot pedals. About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Product Description

The built-in Easy Pulse heart rate monitor helps you monitor your heart rate throughout your workout so you get the most out of every workout. You can also get better muscle extension with the 18" stride length that allows you to take longer strides as you workout to help you develop longer, leaner muscle. To make things easy, the SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance and Digitally controlled resistance allow you to smoothly and quickly change your level of resistance throughout your workout.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK, July 20, 2008
I like the way the elliptical looks, and the oversized pedals allow you to adjust your foot placement to maximize comfort. The drawbacks are that it rocks back and forth while you pedal (and I only weigh 130 lbs), and "level 1" is about the equivalent of a level 3 on other equipment I've used. Also the wheel is quite big making the pedaling stride large, so it could aggravate any hip issues. And it will take a couple people a couple hours to put it together so be prepared. If you're looking to go cheap and plan on relatively light use, this will work fine. We have always been extremely satisfied with Weslo brand equipment. But if I had it to do over again, I probably would purchase a different elliptical trainer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Difficult assembly, but works well (so far), December 30, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weslo Momentum 220 X Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
Assembly was more difficult than with our previous elliptical trainer. It took me about five hours. The first hour I spent removing parts from the box and checking them against the parts list. In the process I found an extra short screw, loose in the box. The only short screws on the parts list were inside the pre-assembled frame, so I was forced to remove the side shields to ensure that the extra screw had not come loose from inside. This added about 10 minutes to my work.

Assembly was considerably hampered by one serious problem: The back end of the frame was badly bent, making it impossible to attach the rear stabilizer. I don't know if this happened at the factory or during shipping. With great effort, I was finally able to straighten the bent steel with the use of a 14-inch pipe wrench. Otherwise, I would have had to send the whole thing back and reorder. I also noted that the front of the frame and the front stabilizer were angled leftward about 5-10 degrees from the rest of the frame; this does not appear to affect the functioning of the unit, however.

After assembly was complete, I tested it out. At first, the unit made a loud scraping noise, and was somewhat hard to pedal. Having removed the side shields earlier, I knew that this was because the lower end of the "C" magnet was in direct contact with the flywheel. This didn't seem right to me, but I wasn't sure. After a minute or so, however, there was a "clank" from inside, the unit became somewhat easier to pedal, and the scraping noise ceased. Evidently, the problem corrected itself.

I have used the unit for about a month now. It is fairly quiet. It does wobble slightly on my carpeted floor, but otherwise seems to be working well. Time will tell how durable the unit is.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good!, September 29, 2008
Bought It a week ago, so far so good. Nothing but good things to say at this point. It's a great workout in a short time. I'd be surprised if anyone who hasn't been excercising regularly can do more than 10 minutes on this machine.

As far as durability and reliability goes, you get what you pay for. Any elliptical under 500 dollars is not likely to have great construction, however, if you monitor it's performance and do the proper maintenance at the first sign of a problem (strange sound or odd performance) then it will last you for a very long time. Just like with a car, if you ignore these signs, you will just aggravate the problem and break something.

I will update this review as time goes by, but I am confident that this machine will stay with me for a very long time.
