Book Description

Wessex Papers June 2002

Dear Charles,

I regret to inform you that I have expelled your son, Noah. This was not a decision that I made lightly. Indeed, it is particularly vexing to me, as you and your family have faithfully supported the Wessex Academy for so many years. Sadly, I had no choice. I don't want to go into the sordid details on paper; suffice it to say that the incident involved one of our female faculty members, and that Noah's behavior was inappropriate in the extreme.

Perhaps some kind of arrangement can be made, although I'm doubtful.

Again, my most sincere regrets.

Yours,
Phillip Olsen,
Headmaster

Sunday and Fred discover more about the sinister conspiracy at Wessex. The blackmailers are getting desperate....and they're willing to turn to murder.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Reviewed with other titles in the Wessex Papers series.

Gr. 8-12. Unlike many paperback teen series titles that feature a self-contained story in each volume, the Wessex Papers series uses three volumes to tell one long, involved mystery. The first volume, Trust Falls, uses a lot of pages to introduce the main characters, including Sunday Winthrop (old-money rebel) and Fred Wright (middle-class rebel), and the complex social world of the ultrasnobbish Wessex Academy. Things pick up in Fallout, in which Sunday and Fred reveal their feelings for one another and discover an extortion scheme that reaches to the upper levels of the school administration. In the final volume, Sunday and Fred unmask the blackmailers and make their school more fair and just. Of course, most mysteries are fewer than 750 pages, and the story gets rather messy and convoluted in places. Yet many young readers will find a thrill in the vicarious plunge into the world of Wessex Academy, where the students indulge in all sorts of teenage vices (including some nonexplicit sex and drug and alcohol use) and sneak around the campus at night in their underwear and J. Crew pajamas. Todd Morning

5.0 out of 5 stars The second thrilling book in the Wessex Papers trilogy, August 7, 2002
Noah is deep in trouble. Not only did he have sex with the new teacher, Miss Burke, but he somehow got caught on tape doing it! Now he is being backmailed for $200,000. Noah isn't sure how it happened, but he does know that Fred Wright, who he thought was his buddy, has definitely got to be responsible. When the deadline comes and he still doesn't have the money, Noah finds himself expelled from school with nowhere to go and his life a whole mess...

Fred has no idea why Noah accused him of betraying him but he is gonna find out what conspiracy is going on at the school. Enlisting the help of Sunday the two begin to investigate the whole matter. Soon they uncover clues and find this conspiracy has been going on for quite a long while. The revelations about the conspiracy isn't the only shocking thing, their feelings for eachother too are starting to grow...until their world comes to a crashing halt after just witnessing what they believe is a murder...

The second book in the Wessex Trilogy is almost as good as the first. Of course the cliffhanger ending makes you grab the 3rd book and just start reading. I highly recommed these books to teens!
