If you're buying one of these, you know it's just a big coffee pot, but this one really perks quickly. It also takes a lot of abuse and holds up well. I use mine weekly for a crowd of about 200. It gets filled twice in one night, gets rinsed and tossed back into the cabinet to be used again next week. It still looks nice and works well.

repeat buyer,
This review is from: West Bend 33600 100-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn (Kitchen)
8 years ago I bought 2 of these coffee pots for use in our church kitchen. We use them at least twice a week and they are still going strong. I bought another because as we grow we need more coffee.

These coffee urns are a great buy. Well worth the money. They make 100 cups of coffee in less than an hour. Very easy to clean and maintain.

This is nice looking unit. The spigot is high enough off the table that even a tall mug can fit underneath without having to tip the mug. It is easy to clean. And it seems very efficient: We use the same amount of water but less coffee than our previous coffee maker and it comes out just as strong.

We bought this as a replacement for an older unit. The unit is a very good value and a reliable design.Pros: - reliable - strong handles and construction - value for money Cons: - no supply power light (so if your breaker blows you don't know). - long brew times 1-1.5 hours for 100 cups

West Bend Coffee Urn,

This is a pretty good urn. We use it at church and it makes good HOT coffee. Only one problem we've had with it is that when it's brewing, unless you shim down the lid tight (we use bits of cardboard to make it tight) it will bubble a little coffee out over the sides of the urn, not a lot but enough to leave a little puddle on the counter that you need to mop up. It's a small price to pay for lots of hot coffee, though.

Ol' reliable!,
This review is from: West Bend 33600 100-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn (Kitchen)
This West Bend 100-Cup urn is the most dependable of all my "fleet" of coffee urns. In my opinion the polished aluminum doesn't look as ritzy as stainless steel models, and requires a bit more scrubbing to keep it new looking. But one of my two new stainless steel models (in my case, Waring) stopped percolating after only 5 uses, and gave colored water rather than coffee during a presentation. My replacement, if Waring won't fix it under warranty, will be West Bend models. Long-term reliability/dependability is far more important than fancy looks of imported stainless steel.

Me and my co-workers have been using West Bend coffee pots for over 20 years... They are the best. I don't understand why they changed the basket though.. We've had these pots last up to 4 years. Thats making coffee 24 hours a day..

I purchased two of these a year ago to use in a ministry that serves people who are homeless. The coffee pots are very well constructed and are sturdy enough to be lugged back and forth in their boxes in the back of a pickup hundreds of miles on rough roads and still look and work good! They are comfortingly noisy and I love that while I wait the hour for the coffee to brew it smells fabulous! The coffee comes out a good strength (I use a pretty coarse grind of dark roast coffee) and nice and hot. I've had no trouble with leakage at spout or lid. Bonus points for getting them for $89 each on a gold box deal. If they put them on again, I'll be buying two more to use for hot water for hot chocolate and tea. Oh, and clean up is a breeze!

This coffee pot is used every Sunday for coffee hour after church service. It works fine and meets our needs. We place it on a round two inch high cutting board and put a flat plate under the spigot to avoid drips on our carpet.
