Not Worth It,
By
This review is from: West Bend 56870 10-Cup Drip Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless (Kitchen)
The price is reasonable, and it makes coffee. It has has a timer which allows you to make coffee the night before. The lid is attached to the pot and because the opening isn't large, it makes it difficult to clean the pot. The space to fill the reservoir is about an inch on each side, and makes it difficult to fill. I don't believe the warmer keeps the coffee has hot as previous coffeemakers (and there have been many). They just as easily could have left the clock off, because you simply can't read it. The filter is difficult to clean as well, and because of it's odd shape, there don't seem to be any gold filters available that fit this coffeemaker.
For years this household was a big fan of West Bend products. They used to be of high quality. But it seems they've gone the way of many other manufacturers, and most of their products just aren't of good quality or reliable. I think an inexpensive Mr. Coffee would do a better job. Not impressed at all. Edit: After just 3 months of use, this coffeemaker is finished. It leaks all over, doesn't drip properly into the carafe, and is headed for the garbage.

Could be the worst coffee pot ever,

This review is from: West Bend 56870 10-Cup Drip Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless (Kitchen)
I bought this via amazon for the price, stainless steel, and programable features. The upper handle clip broke in a month. West Bend had no replacement clip and put me on a waiting list. When there was coffee all over the counter this morning, I went right out and threw the whole thing, with still hot spilled coffee, right in the trash can. I went to the cellar, and got my old no feature procter silex (under a sawbuck at target) and made my morning coffee. Only those wishing personal agravation should throw away their hard eraned money on this landfill junk.

Has a timer, a digital clock - and I can read it (see next review), makes a good coffee, but doesn't keep it hot for long. And a pot broke in 2 month, when i was cleaning it.

We have had one of these for several months and already looking for a replacement. The coffee maker has several weaknesses:
1) The carafe is specially designed for the coffee maker. You can't replace it with an off the shelf one when you break it. 2) We broke our first carafe and this second carafe cracked yesterday. 3) The carafe does not pour well. It often dribbles. 4) It is difficult to pour water into the machice. There is a 1 inch ring at the edge where you can add the water. The dribbling carafe compounds the problem.

Lasted 1 Year to the Day,

This review is from: West Bend 56870 10-Cup Drip Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless (Kitchen)
I received this coffee maker as a Christmas gift in 2009. It died on Christmas Day 2010. There was no warning when it went. It simply stopped working. To be fair, I did use it nearly every day for the year that it worked, so I suppose it didn't owe anyone anything, but I honestly expected it to last a little longer.
There wasn't anything truly outstanding about this coffee maker & as another reviewer pointed out, there are plenty of less expensive coffee makers out there that could do the same job better--and in my humble opinion, some of the less expensive models would probably last longer, too.

Great Basic Coffee Maker. Had it all through college and even convinced my wife that this little guy was all we needed. After 6 yrs its still going strong. Use it every day. Timer is great. Only slight draw back is the small reservoir to fill water in. Other than that West Blend is the way to go.

The timer setting is great...we've never had a problem with the machine. It certainly is a good cup of coffee.
