Well I was skeptical after reading the other reviews but decided to try it. I like how you can use any pitcher you want. But I love that if you set it to strong it actually brews strong (too strong for me). The sugar chamber was ok, but I use sweet n low, so I use far less then a cup, but I can assume it would be ok with a cup. Other reviewers said it got on their countertop, I do not see how this could possibably happen. It does also have a double shower head system which helps make the tea stronger. It took about 5-10 minutes to brew a pitcher. The only thing I dont like is to not use the drip tray you have to remove all the baskets before you remove the pitcher, but that is what the drip tray is for. And with the Mr coffee and such my counters were always a mess. Out of the 7-8 tea makers Iv tried this is my favorite.

Great iced tea maker. Quick set up right out of the box. Add water, ice, sugar, tea bags/or leaves. 7 minutes later you get smooth delicious tasting iced tea. I don't use sugar in my tea, so did not use the sweetener tray. I like my tea strong, so I used 9 bags of mango peach tea, then brewed at the strongest level. There was no dripping while I put water in the machine, nor was there any water dripping during the brewing process. There is a lot of steam that comes out from the top of the machine, and that may be what some people are confusing with dripping water. I also had absolutely no dripping when pouring tea from the carafe with the lid on, into my glass. Yes, the carafe is plastic, but it is very sturdy and attractive looking, and fits neatly and nicely on the top shelf of the refrigerator. The tea is iced cold straight out of the carafe and tastes smooth, delicious and refreshing. This beats making tea in a pyrex measuring cup in the microwave. I don't have to worry that I left the tea bags in too long or too short of a time. Takes the guess work out of making great tea AND there's no mess. I'm very happy with my choice of iced tea makers.

** Update ** Made an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade and half iced tea) with my iced tea maker. Add a can of frozen lemonade into the bottom of the carafe with the ice and brew like usual. Really good!

**one more update** Have done a lot of experimenting with the machine and found a great way to save a bit of money. I love mango tea, but find the specialty tea's to be pricey, so i brew 5 bags of Lipton black tea bags and 4 flavored tea bags. It still tastes strong and refreshing. If I want to sweeten it up a bit with out sugar, I pour in about 1/2 a cup of diet cranberry juice with the ice into the carafe. Just make sure you leave out some ice so it doesn't overflow while brewing.

This replaced an earlier West Bend model that we had used for years. This one is just as good or better. Really like the style and ease of use. Four tea bags is enough although the directions call for up to seven. Makes perfect iced tea quickly. We do not use the sugar compartment that has been the subject of other complaints.

This is my third Iced Tea maker I have owned. I love it. It makes great Tea. My original pitcher mine came with was glass and it broke. One of the best features about this iced tea maker, is you can use any pitcher with it. GREAT FEATURE. I often will pre-brew 2-3 pitchers of tea for a party or dinner. I now have 2 acrylic pitchers I alternate and use with this machine.

I have since purchased this as a gift - and it now comes with a plastic pitcher. I still love that you can use any pitcher with it!! A great buy.

If you don't feel like reading what I wrote, I put the pro's and con's at the end of this review. I have recently been eating healthier and one of the many changes was to give up soda and sugary drinks and dedicate myself to the art of tea. As much fun as it is to constantly brew tea with the coffee machine, I really wanted something that did it a better job producing ice tea, and after much looking I found it here.

There is a rather limited number of ice tea makers at the consumer level, I've tried just about all of them. My parents are big tea drinkers and have had a pitcher of tea always made since I was born. One of the main things I was looking for was a "universal" tea brewer. In other words, one that does not require the pitcher to function. I found that with this ice tea maker, which offers a drip function that you can be used with any pitcher you want.

So far, this is a great tea maker and I love it for most of it's properties. The pitcher has measuring aids on the side, and a screw on top that functions as both the brewing top and serving top. This tea maker consists of three cups with handles that fit together within it's main compartment. The first cup handles "loose tea", which is absolutely perfect as I recently switched to loose tea (as it contains more of the health benefits than processed tea bags). Having a compartment specifically designed for it is wonderful.

The second compartment contains the area you would put tea bags. Finally, the third compartment underneath those first two contains where you would put a sweetener. The first thing I need to mention is that this is NOT a sweet tea maker. For those of you who don't know, sweet tea is tea with insane amounts of sugar in it.
